Hello all,
I am currently in negotiation with the bug 4, err sorry Big 4 about running a D% (original - from Chaosium) Call of Cthulhu game.
The game will be based in 1960's England (a deviation from the norm there I know) and will be based loosely on "The Burrowers Beneath" by Brian Lumley - though the game progresses in a slightly different direction than the book.
I personally much prefer the D% version of the game and find it much easier to work with than a fantasy system bolted into the genre. (Rant over - promise!!!)
For those who have never played Cthulhu before, it is well known as THE premiere rpg, the thinking mans game. Hack and slash techniques in this game will get you dead - pure and simple - if you are lucky!
For those who have you know the eldrich terror and horrors already built into the game and how a good keeper (DM in other systems) can make or break a game. I ain't saying that I'm a good keeper, but I am better than a lot I've played with.
So come on board this game and prepare to start jumping at shadows, tremble at creaks in the night and cower under your duvets at the knocking at your appartment window. Of course it's just that old tree knocking in the wind .... but hang on a minute, wasn't that trimmed right back only last week? ..... Where is that smell of sulphur coming from???

I'd be interested - and BRP is a far better system for that particular game than D20 (although I do have that as well).
My character idea is a medical doctor who has turned to writing medical thrillers instead of actually practising... thus likely to take a good look at any passing mystery to see if it would make a good plot! Would that suit?

Hey Mexal, thanks for the response. At the moment, it's a blank page and I am still awaiting word from admins about this.
M.D. (retd) now a Jessica Fletcher wannabe - sounds good to me though.
Hang fire till I ewihter get the nod or not before making a character though.
Rules - not really that much difference in them but probably 6th edition as it's my latest.

The latest I have is v5.5, but I dare say I can scare up a copy if needed.

We can run with 5.5. as I said there ain't that much difference between 5 and 6.
Wait a day or so and we'll see if anyone else is on board, adn if I can even run it yet - still no word from Admins - HINT HINT!!!.

Still awaiting a response from ANY of the admin team. I followed their ways of pm-ing them all and to date no response has been received. Once I ger the nod either way I can proceed or not. Welcome aboard (hopefully)
That makes one of me and two of you - I make that Pimms O'Clock!

Oh please don't talk about pimms o' clock *gags*. I was at a house party on thursday, woke up with a massive hangover and drunk a bottle of pimms and then a half litre of vodka to make it go away. Stupidist idea ever

I can only apologise for the delay lads, I sent the original set-up e-mail some months ago, and the one asking if dispensation can be given for it being D100 and another reminding them of this and today a polite reminder sent to all admins. if they haven't responded by the end of the month, that's 2 weeks today then I take it the game will not be running and I won't be back. :(
To miss one e-mail - well pooh happens - but not to respond to three is ignorance - one of my pet hates. I can understand in certain cases - people starting games and giving them up after a short time - that they have to be careful about who gets to be DM / Keeper / whatever. But not to respond!!!!
Two weeks more and we shall know one way or another.

We have had some illness and personal situations arise with both Skurvy and Barrok. They have not been able to be on the boards for quite awhile.
I had only received one PM, your original one addressed to Skurvy. I deferred it to him so I deleted it. I have replied to your second (as far as I know) PM that I received today.
I am approving the running of your D% game here on the Tower, but not without some concern. Please refrain from throwing around the "ignorance" label about situations you yourself do not fully understand. If this weighs too much on your "pet hate" then I will completely understand your reasons for leaving and playing somewhere else.
If you choose to stay and run your game, please let me know exactly what you need set up to make it happen.

RIght people, we have got a bit of motion on this. As a result I am looking for at least one more investigator who wants to play the D% version of Call of Cthulhu. Two or three more would be perfect.
I also need to know if Mexal and Greggorman are still on board for this.
Looking to start in the next week or so; the quicker we get those interested signed up and so on the quicker we can start to play.
The story will start off in the UK in the early 1920's. I shall let you know more when we get more people involved.
I have apologised to both Woz, KoR, Skurvy and Barrok via PM for my previous post and do so again now to the membership of the Tower. Any offence caused was not intended.
Now let's start gaming!!!

Excellent - I needed at least three and now we can make some moves to get started.
Right people, do you want to do your own characters or me to provide a choice?
I'll send you all a template later tonight to help with formatting etc.
I'd hope for something along the lines of say a couple of posts a week as an absolute minimum. Otherwise standard Barrok rules on things like netiquette etc apply.
Anyone else is more than welcome to come aboard.
The threads are set up now so we can move here (http://barroks-tower.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=200)for all game chatter - Once you get your characters to me, we can get the ball rolling.
