Delayed Reaction Spell [Metamagic]
Prerequisites: Concentration 8 ranks, Spellcraft 8 ranks
Benefit: By spending one spell slot higher than normal, you may cast a spell and have its effects haulted until you set it off as a free action. This means that when you cast a delayed spell, nothing will happen for a number of rounds or until you set it off, then at the very position in time and space that you were at when you casted the spell, the spell will go off as if you were there. Any spells that had required an attack roll, or any roll necessary for the caster to be present, automatically take a -5 to their attack rolls, but function normally otherwise. A spell can only be delayed for 1 round/3 levels, or 1 round/level if you concentrate on the spell (succeeding a concentration check each round). A caster can only have one delayed spell functioning at a time if they concentrate, otherwise they may have as many as their spellcasting-ability modifier at one time.

Example1: Caster casts delayed Sleep spell then runs for his life. All the poeple chasing him walk into the targeted area and the spell goes off, and they all fall asleep if they do not succeed in the will save and aren't immune to sleep effects. If this had been a fireball, they all would have needed reflex saves.

Example2: Caster casts Lightning Bolt delayed and runs away. Whenever the spell goes off, where ever the caster had targeted the spell will be where it appears in a straight line pointing in one direction begining at the point of casting.

This could be a great spell to use, unless of course you were casting a spell tht required a roll to hit, a 5 will not hit anything, so you wasted that spell and a higher level spell slot. Does the target of the spell count as flat footed, since you are running away or whatever they would not expect a spell to suddenly discharge. Very nice spell....

Ray of cold would work with this feat as well. :D Lightning bolt is a line effect, I went ahead and mentioned that. Area effects work, nearly any spell works, although some cannot such as self-targeting only effects with personal range, like Alter Self, because they are set off at the very spot you cast it and can only affect you if you are within distance of the casting point. Touch spells wouldn't work either, unless the target just happened to walk into the exact right 5ft.x5ft. square you were in when you cast the spell.
