The Brotherhood are a group of partially sighted monks that following the teachings of Blind Io, Chief of the Gods in a distant plane of existence. They are primarily warriors, and after training for many years of hard-living to overcome their disability, novices are dispersed around the world as fighters of evil and all that plagues the seeing world.
The Brotherhood only accepts new recruits under the age of 25, and obviously only those who suffer from partial or complete blindness. The process of turning them into a fighting machine honed to use the senses of touch, sound and smell to perfection, takes many long, hard years of dedicated study and training. Most trainees will not become full Brothers until after the age of Thirty, and only those who join very young ever leave the monasteries at this age.
The monks are good-aligned, favour the use of their body as a weapon over the use of any 'monk' weapons, and like to dress in drab, loose clothes. Few choose to hide their disability, many proudly wearing the bandana featuring a blinded eye that is their symbol. Once Brothers leave the monastery they travel alone and rarely join up with others of their order, except when grave circumstances call for them to band their forces together. Many choose to seek adventure with mercenary parties, fight with armies for the forces of good, or protect villages and larger communties as guards and watchmen.
