The Senseless Ones are a group of dueling mages that have eschewed the sensations of sight, sound, touch and smell whilst they duel, preferring to hone their abilities to spar using only the glory of magic. Open to any who wish to practice with them, the Guild has spread proponents far and wide to preach the glory of using magic without sensation.

Duels are generally soletary affairs between two members, each with a second to aid them; only very rarely there are duels with more than two combatents. Before each duel, the duellists are blindfolded, and have their ears and nose plugged with wax or similar substances - the duelling area is then cloaked in either normal or magical darkness. They are then permitted time to cast spells that may aid them in detecting and defeating their opponent.

Once both are prepared, their second touches them briefly on the shoulder, the only sensory experience permitted during the duel, and the opponents can begin to move on to offensive spells. No duel is to the death, the winner is the first to make their opponent use his senses; whether from feeling a jolt of pain, making any vocal noise, or any other method. Duels do not generally last more than a few minutes, with only the true masters able to maintain their senses within themselves and use magic as their only conduit.

Sounds pretty interesting. Is it a common practice to simply blind/deafen oneself by magic and undo it after the arena (so you don't have that wax in your nose and ears).

B, I will work on those and try to get something up.

Ark, yes they duellists can take that method, but the effects are easy to dispel and it is a risky maneouver - the physical plugs are a more effective method of ensuring a senseless experience.

I suppose. I always found the wax to smell horrible and feel itchy whenever I used them for plugging my nose and ears for swimming. Yes I plugged my nose, I was 11 and I was curious so let subject go already!

Depends entirely on the wax used I'd imagine - maybe its normal beeswax, maybe its specially enchanted or something, I'll bung something in the extended write-up about it.

How about psionically enhanced wax which disables smell? :P

No, seconds are there merely to ensure that preparations on the duellists are carried out correctly - there is no traditional use of seconds in the Senseless Ones guild, as any member in need of a second stepping in has already lost (ie. been injured, or somesuch).
