View Full Version : Okay.. My first idea for 4th Edition Feat

Ok. There is one thing that has me kind of erked about rituals. They take for frikken ever. I think I have decided that my first feat creation will be a three part feat (heroic tier, paragon tier, epic tier).

I think the first one will cut the time down by half. I think I should force a choice of skill though; arcana, religion, heal, and nature. Not sure.

Heroic Tier: cut time in half (10 minutes = 5 minutes)
Paragon Tier: cut time in quarter (10 minutes = 2.5 minutes)
Epic Tier: cut time by ten (10 minutes = 1 minute)

I am not sure yet though, I will have to see them in play to determine whether they are worth it or not. I think I might do a whole chain of feats for rituals.

Personally I would say they have to choose a skill area. (arcana, religion, etc.)

As nice as it would be to have all rituals shortened, I feel this could create more diverse or specific skills/class.

Yeah. That was my idea too. I mean a knock spell taking 10 minutes. I think that a fighter that casts rituals should take ten minutes but not a fireball flinging wizard. Maybe I might create a new power at a few levels that allows a specific ritual to be cast daily like a daily power.

I like the sound of the feat for a single ritual to become a daily spell. Perhaps increase it's spell level? (Similar to the metamagic feats)

What's that?

Spell Levels are gone. Now you gain spells that are locked and get powerful at their different tiers (heroic, paragon, epic)

ah ok. got a little confused for a second :).

haven't had a chance to see the tiers but would it be feasible to have it raised a tier for it to become a daily cast?

nope. You could always add different bonuses though.

A tier is just a special stage of levelling where you specialize a bit, adding a few things to how the character will develop from that point forward.

The rituals' casting times have already been cut in half with the introduction of the new scroll rules. When creating a scroll it is considered to have been half cast, and so the ritual casting time for a scroll is half the time it normally would take.
