View Full Version : Veden Merrick - Level 7 Warlord [Battle Champion]

This is my first NPC (elite). He is meant to be a guide for my players in their first few levels. He will be present when the characters have their first boss fight (where he will die) and one of the bosses gets away. The man that kills the guy will be a boss character they will face down the road.
The build has a template and he is about twice as strong as a normal level 7 character. He is the leader of Sentinel's Shadow, the starting town for my game.
I have a cool encounter where the characters must try and reach him while the are faced down with much lower level enemies. He will be facing a level 7 solo enemy, so there is really no chance he can win so I will use the dice as he fights. He is meant to die in the fight. The characters must face a sub-boss while they fight their way to the balcony where the Veden fights the solo boss. As the characters near the end of the fight with the sub-boss I am going to pull out the encounter powers for the solo boss and kill Veden. The characters might be able to give chase but because the players have cleared a path and more allies are coming the baddie flees.
Now, I have some changes that can occur in this via flow chart and some different ways the encounter can end depending on actions of the players. But Veden only lives in one of the results.

Inspiring Assault
Whenever he scores a critical hit, Veden and his allies within 5 squares of it regain 3 hit points.
