So Chombaa you have come to NIght City to get cybered up and fight the dead guys.. you need weapons - sure we have weapons for you, how about a nice combat shot gun which has been smart chipped. You need weapon links installing well I know the Ripper Doc that can do it for you.. The only thing is you will have to do me a favour Chombaa.. a big favour at that.
Cyberpunk 2020 is a look at the world in an alternative universe - one filled with cyberware, guns, viscous corporations running (dead guys) running everything and you are just a person on the Street. Armed and ready to run against other gang bangers to get precious Euro Dollars.
So all I need to know is would you like to play at some point...

I would be willingly to play I think, if you need help with source books let me know: Cyberpunk is in my collection. On a side note v3.0 was pretty crappy in my opinion IMO.

I heard that v3.0 was not so good at all, and it over looked so much of the other history of cyberpunk - glossed over the cybergen line..etc
At the mo It would just be the original book - but I have read most of the source books (though this was about 10 years ago) so if certain arms or cyberware was being asked for I would have to take it on a case by case fashion... No people going exotic though - I am not having a load of bunnyboys around!

If I did join I would probably go with Sho Su again, I had him pretty cybered up but it was almost completely transportation cyberware. Anything that increased speed was his thing.

would be fine to me unless I am doing a specific cop run.. probably just do an easy run first before getting into specifics.. so any character would be fine.

If you are short then I am always up for a Barrok-led game, but I am not very familiar with Cyberpunk games :)

basic rules Skurvy are - you have cyberware and a cool gun.. shoot often... get more guns.. get more cyberware - try not to go cyberpsycho...
Niko_Kaze
3rd June 2008, 08:10 AM
And don't piss off the wrong people unless you have them by the input device.
Barrok
3rd June 2008, 08:15 AM
oh and if you have just had 10,000 eurodoillars of cyberware put into you.. it probably has some malware added - to get you to do missions.. such as poisons sacks lining your stomach kept from desolving only if you get a certain solution every 24 hours (read Neuromancer by William Gibbons) or can we say Cortex Bomb ( a bit like Running Man - the film.. not book)
Do you know how much I smile just typing in Cortex Bomb. It sort of makes your day.

So .... gun, cybernetics, sent on missions to generally cause havoc ...
I like this game already :)

Basically... YES.... mission for normally a very morally grey and less than reputable source.. various guns .. various cyvbertech (just got chrome book 1 - so there are now more gun and cybertech options!!!) lots of chances in being able to fully unload a fully automatic rifle out - I am thinking of having one character with dual smart chipped guns and links with two cyber eyes for separate targeting... just for kicks really.
The main adventure I am tempted to run a basic level extraction - you have to get into the building kidnap the person.. bring them back to the person and they will give you a few thousand Euro Dollars (E B ). Sounds easy really.
So people for this adventure would be Solos (basic advanced fighter peeps) maybe a Fixer (a sort of scum bag type character - like a low level mafia boss).. perhaps a tech (in case you have to jury rig anything to get out of there)
Niko_Kaze
3rd June 2008, 07:42 PM
Probably will need a Medtech and a 'Runner too. hmmm I need to go get my cyberpunk books out.

I'll stake a claim on the solo/street samurai role.

I guess it comes down to - do you want to roll your own characters - or would you like me to roll a bunch of very different characters and you can choose out of them?
Niko_Kaze
4th June 2008, 07:25 AM
I have my books and would like to roll, however I also realise that others may not have this option and will go with the consensus.
Skurvy
4th June 2008, 10:39 AM
It would probably take me too long to learn how to make my own character, so I am happy for you to make mine :)
No objection if othger people want to make their own though ...
I was thinking about being the Tech, as long as that doesn't require an enormous amount of knowledge of the system, in which case I will play a soldier type.

I would like to dust off my Solo, Chey, someday I would like to finish an adventure that she is in . . .
Skurvy, techs are pretty easy to play in this system, you just have to be willing to be creative and occasionally spout some techno-babble.
Barrok
4th June 2008, 04:59 PM
Sounds fine to have to previously rolled characters and I will set about trying to come up with at least a couple of choices for you Skurvy....
oh and lucky for you I have just won chrome book 2 - so you have access to more cyber tech and guns......

5th June 2008, 07:48 AM
No - that's what they try to tell me!! I try to tell them to "shut up and roll more dice to create characters or its no gruel for you for tea, and if you keep crying whilst rolling characters I'll make you sleep in the tower's dungeon again!! Honestly tears on the dice will skew character sheets.... have I thought you nothing children!!!!"
Or something like that.
Yeah its packing today and writing up characters tomorrow

I would love to participate in a CP game. I have played Shadowrun for ove a decade but never CP. If you don't mind me needing help with the rules, I would love to play.
Barrok
6th June 2008, 06:13 AM
okay Rhadaman you are in - to be honest the rules are very light indeed..
combat is easy and will be shielded away from most of it.. skill rolls will be more Roleplayed out - unless its some technical roll etc.. but definitely social aspects will adhere to more roleplaying then dice rolling. I will take time to explain the Cyberware options chosen for each character which I have created to the player as well as go over any of the gear, life path.. in fact any of the character sheet.
This weekend I will try to put up a slang term post, probably other flavour posts for running in Night City (USA) and try to work out a very basic entrance mission to lead you to hopefully another one afterwards. I will say though with Paranoia the GM can sometimes be against you - in Cyberpunk he really doesn't need to be - The future is very dark, a lot of people have weapons, quite a few are teetering on Cyber Psychosis (too much cyberware which erodes your empathy stat - at 0 empathy you go insane and want to kill all flesh sacks), life is incredibly sheap and most people would sell their invalid grandma for an upgrade in weapons, cyberware, drugs, braindance, power, respect or for the sheer hell of getting rid of that woman telling them about "the good ol' days"
As it does mention in the book several times - Style is Everything!
Niko_Kaze
6th June 2008, 07:18 AM
K I'll post some mechanics for everyone. Barrok you need to tell us the character gen style though, are we rolling, point buying, or using an array?
Basics of Cyberpunk:
So you think your ready for the street Chomba? Think again! Just becuase you got Kung Fu chipped in doesn't mean some chromer out here isn't going to flatline you! First you got to realise your style. You go out on the street looking like some corp-grown arcology raised poser you'll get turned over fast!
Ok Cyberpunk has 9 stats, but remember you are not the contents of your wallet! These numbers tell something about you not everything. Stats are Body, Reflexes, Intelligence, Cool, Attractiveness, Willpower, Tech, Move, Luck and Empathy. Body is the shape your in: If round is the answer your body is probably 3, if you look like some gandi or street orphan that can't beg maybe a 1, on the other hand if you've been in the Corp's gym all your life pumping iron you could be anywhere from a 7 to a 10. Reflexes are how you react: all those muscles don't do any good if you just stand there when everyone else is slammit on around you. If you can't figure out Intelligence yours is probably a 2. Cool is how will you handle yourself under pressure: if you keep your head while trying to disarm a nuke with a pair of tweezers while blindfolded your either very chill or very dumb. Attractiveness is your face value, but remember in cyberpunk your look is everything, and everything is disposable. Willpower is how much you can take before you crack, kind of like Cool but different, people see Cool, Willpower is within. Tech is how well you handle all those toys of yours: If you like your gun but need help reloading it you might have a Tech of 1, if you see a new AV and think of options you can add you probably are around a Tech of 9. Move is how fast you are while Luck keeps you out of trouble. Think Empathy isn't important? Then you are going to burn out fast Choomba! Empathy is what your humanity comes from and that's what keeps you from going psycho from all that metal in you. For every full ten points of humanity lost from cyberware your empathy goes down by one at EMP 3 you are a bit of a cold fish, at 1 you flip out and we cash you in for spare parts. Hey don't look at me like that, waste not want not.
So you know your stats eh? You think that's it? What's your like of work Choomba? How you earn those euros to keep of the street? There are several lines of jobs available, Solo (fighter/mercenary), Tech(duh, he keeps your toys fixed), MedTech (keeps you fixed), Corp (blah big money hotshot), Media (just telling it how you want them to see it), Rocker (keeping it real and keeping them pumped!), Cop (respect their authority, or you'll respect the new hole in your head), Nomad (traveller who's family is everything), Netrunner (faster than light in your own world), and Fixer (he can get it for you...at a price).
When you want to do something you roll that d10 there and add in your stat and skill rank. That's about it easy as flatlining zeros.

By the by if you are going to cortex bomb us and the like any ways can we sell out?
Barrok
6th June 2008, 07:40 AM
For those who have access to books you are rolling 9d10 discount any 1s or 2s - you have 2 months worth of salary and if you want you can have 10,000 EB of cyberware .. but this is from a shadowy source - your fixer friend who has gathered the group togther - who knows who he is working for? Or why he can supply you with 10,000EB of cyberware.
Niko_Kaze
6th June 2008, 09:33 AM
Woot 2 months salary? That's much more than I originally used. Time to go back to my wish list (bigger gun? more guns? some armor? armor?!?! Please shoot first then don't get shot! Armor is for people that don't know about grenades... or micro-missiles...or railguns... or microwavers... hmmm.... speaking of which...*adds microwave to wish list).

I'll post a couple extra characters just so people have some choice (and it's fun rolling up cyberpunk characters).

Intro
In the darkened room you all stand around a table where a man with no visible chrome is silently typing into his notepad computer, finally breaking the silenced which has been interspersed with key tapping with a slight clearing of his throat.
"I have had great need of a getting a group of 'lancers togther. There has a problem has arisen with one of the groups I have dealings with. A valuable research scientist of theirs has apparently been 'borrowed' by a rival business enterprise to work on something which I have only heard rumours of it being exceedingly 'Top Secret'. I need the scientist brought back here and the lab he is being forced to work in destroyed. For this little easy mission you will be credited 1000EB a piece, not bad for about 2 to 3 hours work.
Now don't worry about where it is, I am just receiving co ordinates now and my employers will be providing a few explosive charges to help you in completion of your mission. If it looks as if the scientist cannot be extracted and the other group will have control of him, you are permitted a to 'retire' him... permanently. Though the price will come down to 750EB for just destroying the lab and retiring him or 500eb for just retiring him. If he does get 'retired' my employers want proof of his demise.
Oh my! I have just got the co ordinates and a map. It would seem that the scientist in question is Karl Simpson, a noted scientist for Biotechnica and he is being held by an unknown group in a warehouse outside if the city... From the satellite picture it would seem there are a couple of sentry towers."
This is the basic outline of the adventure.... do you really want to be a part of this?
I am still open to players.. but space is running out

Is there still room?
Yep there is still room - i am primarily looking for Solos, maybe a fixer and techies.. No netrunners due to the fact that PBP is slow enough then having to do different sub netrunner adventures where they have to get into the computer past several pitbul progs just to get to the light switch.

Cyberpunk 2020 - the second edition - and if you want I can do a character - or you can do one... there is a handy character sheet in the character section of the cyberpunk forum... designed by a lovely admin

If you could do one that would be fantastic... I'm half-way through my review of the 4e Dungeon Master's Guide right now - but am well familiar with Cyberpunk 2020 from both sides of the screen.
