Hey

My genius GM cousin is freaking brilliant as a GM. He doesnt use any world or quest supplements or anything and has created a world and everything in it all on his lonesome. It is brilliant.
Anyway so he also found this little feat combination that was quite devistating. Ok. So try a bit of-
Combat Reflexes combined with Improved Trip.
A high dex is brilliant with Combat reflexes so if you have a 16 dex fighter tripping up to 3 people with attacks of opportunity that is very handy. Also if the trip attempt is successful then there is a free attack.
Now if that is used with a reach weapon on a fighter it is very handy. A Large sized fighter with a reach weapon is the best of all though.

I found the best combination for a more rounded battle character, if your GM allows you to have Large sized characters, an ogre monk. The combat reflexes and improved trip come free aswel as high strength. It is a very powerful character. The ability to avoid or resist magical spells with the good saves and simply trip any troublesome fighters before they get within striking distance puts it ahead on the battle field....now all i need to find is a way to make it work in a talking situation!

I may have left something out but im fairly sure its a damn good character. Please challenge me!!! haha

I have had a GM use that combo against me before and it can be an absolute pain in the backside especially if you have to withdraw from combat thus giving them attacks of opportunity. I must admit for fighters I have started to like making them thrown weapon specialists just for something a little different

I utilized an honor guard with this exact feat combo once using reach weapons as large creatures. They also had back up from archers with ranged pins;

Ogre King
Ogre Mage
3 Ogre Honor Guard
2 Ogre Spearmen

It was a nasty final battle. The ogre mage was an archmage PrC and could shape his spells to miss his own allies. The spearmen would use ranged pin attacks with readied actions in the chokepoint. The honor guard guarded the King and the Mage on the front line. The King himself was the most powerful as a half-dragon and a template of my creation called Martyr of Tiamat. He was killed by the forces of good and held strong to his convictions - Tiamat brought him back.

Well, needless to say. That reach combo is nasty, my players lived but had to really think their way through the fight.

that looks like a hard fight.. what was the party of adventurers and how did they survive such a player character grinder situation.

This is pretty popular on the offical character op boards. Monk ends up being sub optimal for it though. Throw a spike chain and a level or two of Exotic weapon master to really increase the tripping goodness. You would be fun for a DM I think though.
