Through the Gate...

Hello all,

I am throwing out an idea here, for a new game.

Some of you might know a setting called Crown, a small city setting that came into the world a long time ago through a series of chat games here at the tower.

It might once again be time to open the gates to Crown and admit new adventurers...

This game is going to be;

1) A small beginner's game, meaning that if you haven't played D&D before, here is a place to start, but of course, if you are a hardcore experienced gamer, you are welcome as well, just dont expect a high-level epic game...to start with.

2) Based on the D&D 3,5e rules. I expect you to have at least read a few of the rules, but you dont have to own the PHB...I'll help out as much as I can.

3) A chance to experience Crown for the very first time. This means that, you dont have to know all about Crown to begin with...your character is currently standing outside the gates, wanting to get in. You might have heard all kinds of things (more on that later), but its your very first visit. This also means that you wont get to read the Crown Campaign Setting book, at least not right away.

4) Fast-paced... I expect you to post...often, or at least as often as you can. For this reason it might be a good thing not to be involved in...say...6 other games.

What I expect of you;

1) Post often.

2) Write a small background story told from your character's point of view.

3) Involve yourself in the life of your character. I want your character to change throughout the game, so it would be good to know a little about your character beyond... dwarven fighter 1, oh yeah and his name is Fegg Tumbletoes.

I'm in brek. I've got enough experience that I haven't been a munchkin in years, but I also haven't played in a long time so I'm kinda between moderate vet and neophyte lol.

Welcome aboard!

If Barrok approves this game, I'll get it started as soon as possible, and people can just pop in whenever they have a character done, meaning that its possible that I start seperate threads for each character.

However, concerning character creation;

1) Use PHB, whichever method you prefer (for generating ability scores), and use one of the core races.

Note: In Crown you'll meet plenty of new races, like the saruulans, lumilons, oltreggans, alonns etc. but to begin with, use one of the core races for your character (except gnomes!).

2) You can use the following books when generating your character; PHB, PHB II, Complete Warrior, Complete Divine (see below), Complete Arcane, Complete Mage, (and especially) Complete Adventurer. You can also use the Binder and Shadowcaster classes from Tome of Magic, Dragon Compendium, Spell Compendium and Races of Destiny. You might also use some of the materials from The Complete Book of Eldritch Might, or possible other books, as long as I have them in my d20 library (and if they are 3,5 compatible).

Note on the Gods and Divine: In Crown, and the world surrounding the city, the Gods have long since been forgotten, well...people know that gods exists, but their names and philosophy escapes them, as if some dark force has erased any memory of the Gods from their memory. This is, actually, precisely what has happened. You can still find relics, holy symbols, but what are they fore? Its all a mystery, and according to History, the Gods are supposed to be trapped in an extraplanar prison whose gate can be found in Tal Vorglath, a great dungeon below the city.

3) You receive a few extra hit points, equal to your Constitution score, at first level.

4) Pick 10 items that you really want (max price 100), and roll 4d6 for the coins that can be found in your pouch. Pick one magical item, costing up to 300 gp.

Btw, great site! I took a peek and you've got some awesome stuff there! I'm especially enjoying the art and the interactive map, that could come in quite handy in games to come.

Is it to late to get in on this game??? If not I see you are playing 3.5 rule are you using just core classes and races or extened? And do you have any limitations on the type of char you will allow. I have been known to come up with some pretty unusual chars. Is this going to be free form or have some type of dice roll and do we need dnd style stats?

For tabletop games I use this site as both a player and a DM. If it exceptable I will use it to generate my char. It uses both 3.5 core races and classes as well as the extended 3.5 races and classes.

Tieflings now those are fun to play. They make great rogues and warlocks. And fun to play. Especially if you keep them with their tail

Yeah, it is, I may at one time close it down, because too many characters can be time-consuming to handle, and I want a fast-paced game, but thus far only 4 people has expressed interest, so I think I'll allow a few more into the game, perhaps more at a later point.

Okay, I have him dropped to 1 (didn't notice he was at 2 lol) and the extra hp, are you going with the con stat or the modifier? Cause his mod is only +1 but his stat is 12, which would be a nice bonus to the HP lol. let me know, I'll finish the changes and update the sheet, it'll be at the same link.

Hey brek, Redblade doesn't have a way to up the HP stat by itself. what should I do ? Just remember that Odell has +12? I can put it in his RP notes which are at the end of this Char. sheet.
