This is a thread to discuss about Rolemaster

Of all the worlds put out by the gaming companies, in my opinion, by far the most superior was Shadow-World for Rolemaster By Iron Crown.

Not the most detailed, but this was done intentionally, forcing GM's to fill in the blanks with their own material. This made each GM's version of a scenarioi unique to them - well that's the way we used to play it back in the day.

How do we think RM bears up against MERP?

MERP itself as a game system was a bit weaker than RM as it really was the forerunner of a more complicated but ultimately rewarding system. As for the detail that went into the Middle Earth world it was absolutely mind blowing to play in as it gave such depth and richness which didn't stray too far away from the books in describing various races, characters, geography etc. So many times I have sen nooks come out with a new fascinating world that a games company thinks it will try to cover it... and ultimately doing a very hap hazard job on it.

I have never looked at Shadow World and would love to hear more about it? So how much history was written into the world's description. I always think if a world has a lot of history it gives it much more character as you can then drop so much more detail into the game, it has always seemed to make the game as a whole a much more rewarding experience.
