Insect Armor
Enchantment, Summoning, Alteration
Level: Druid 2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 round
Range: Self
Duration: 1 minute +1 per caster level
Saving Throw: Not needed

This spell summons a hord of insects to the caster. The Insects summoned collect on the caster's body until they are completely incased in the creatures. The covering body of insects then transform into a very durable, but light form of armor equipped with it's own weapons. The bug suit fully protects the caster's body, including his eyes, whish are covered by a semi-clear like shell (-2 on spot checks, but giving the caster a +2 save vs. gaze attacks). The Armor has a hardness of 6 , 60 Hit points, and a break DC of 23.

The caster gains a bite attack, due to the now present set of large mandibles, long pointy stinger, or a single large claw they posses (pick one they all do 1d6 +str bonus damage), and all hand to hand attacks receive a +1 to damage due to puncture wounds (tiny spikes). The Suit it's self gives the caster a +6 Ac bonus, with a max dexterity of +2, and a check penalty of -4.

(( Thanks Knight, Ark, and azkul for the help ))

Considering the description of how this spell works, I would give it a casting time of a 1 round.

Should not the 'eye shields' give some bonus against gaze attacks?

I would let the caster choose their weapon from mandibles, sting or a single claw. All doing 1d6 damage for a medium caster.

I would improve the duration to 1 minute per level.

Very nice...Does a certain amount of damage, cause the spell to dissipate?

no, it's like wearing any other form of armor... unless the armor it's self is attacked... which would have a save of it's own, not that I'm sure what the item save would be on this.

Thanks for the interest though, it's a thought, I just don't want the armor to be like fake Hit Points for the caster to wear.

I've updated the spell, anymore ideas?
If not I'll move on to my next experiment, and this could go in either the desert supplement, or the forrest one.
