Spring of the Wretched Heart
Deep within the [insert evil swamp name] lies the source of the swamps lifeforce. A spring everflowing with corruption and malice. In some places, things are just evil with no explanation, this is one such place. No curse fell over the land for some evil act. The place is simply evil with no intent or cause. It just is.
The water that pours forth from the spring corrupts all organic life it comes in contact with, twisting and poisoning everything. To drink water directly from the spring is to invite power into your very being at a cost.

stats to come. I just want to get some place holders and ideas up.

Lore
Knowledge of the swamps nature lies only within ancient arcane tomes. Only with successful Knowledge (arcane) can one know of the lore surrounding the magical spring.

Description
The entire swamp surrounding the spring is a dark place that attracts the corrupt and evil. As one gets closer to the source the spring this evil only thickens.
The spring itself pours from an ancient dais that was created long ago to house the evil water as if its energy was worshipped. The raised bowl-like platform is now covered with a black pitch that has solidified over the centuries.

Prerequisite
There are no prerequisites. The powers are based on the power of the drinker.

Activation
Drinking the water is enough to gain the negative corrupting effects. In order to gain true power from the spring, one must drink the water when there is no moon in the sky.

Recharge
The spring is always active but a person can drink but once a year to gain powers or corruption.

Special Abilities
The spring corrupts but if the water is consumed when the night is black and there is no moon, true power can be achieved.
Smite Good (Sp): If the spring water is consumed on a night with no moon they gain this ability also. Once per day, the drinker may attempt to smite good with one normal melee attack adding their Charisma bonus (if any) to the attack roll and deals 1 extra point of damage per character level. If the drinker accidentally smites a creature that is not good, the smite has no effect, but the ability is still used up for that day.
Corruption (Ex): The power of the spring corrupts when it is consumed. Drinking the water makes the imbiber vulnerable (+50%) to holy weapons. It also causes the wearer to become dazzled by sunlight for 1 minute when exposed after being in a dark or shaded place. This effect is in place for one year from drinking the water.

Duration
The abilities last for one year when the spring water is consumed. If the water is consumed on a night when the moon is out they do not gain the smite good ability and must wait a full year to drink again.

Aura: Just like magical items, places radiate an aura of the type of magic they usually grant.

Ability Value: This value is just like a magic item value. It is a good judgment if you are using wealth by level to keep the members balance. You don't really need to do this unless you want to be completely thorough.

Almost done with this one.

I like the idea of the corruption which counterbalances the Smite Good ability. Very nice MindForge.

I better get on with mine now.
