The Grave Digger's Shovel
A dull metal shovel seems inconsequential in its nature. In the hands of any evil character it gleams with evil grim energy and be weilded as a+3 Keen Broadsword (Treat as simple weapon). Also it gives the weilder these powers. If used to shovel earth or sand the weilder can move 5'cu per round.
The weilder can Animate Dead (as Spell CL10) 1/day
The shovel can speak Unholy Word (as per spell CL15) 1/week
Caster Level 15: Prerequisites; Craft Wondrous Item, Craft Magical Arms and Armour, Animate Dead.

Do anyone think this should have a negative effect on good characters weilding it .. or just be a NORMAL shovel in their hands?

Does this sound better?
The Grave Digger's Shovel
The plague tore apart a whole contenant and descimated its people. Few people survived during the plague and many need burying or burning. F'zek a lowly grave digger heart started to rot with each corpes he buried, his anger and grim determination infusing the shovel he used with a darker purpose. In feeling death upclose the grave digger had been marked by Orcus for a higher purpose, and his shovel became blessed by the demon lord.
During the day the grave digger buried the dead, but atr night he raised them from their graves sowing seeds of discord and chaos. Finally he was found using his misbegotten artefact and burnt at the stake with the shovel disappearing. Over the course of history it has resurfaced a few times always during wars, famine or disease.

If held by any non evil character they must make a will save (DC 30)or have their alignment move one step on the good - evil axis towards evil

The second write up is definitely better. Though I still think that maybe the item should be a normal shovel in the hands a non evil person, maybe if they make their save to be moved towards evil then the shovel is normal, but if they fail then they can use some but not all of the powers until they become evil. I don't know something like that anyways. I like it, makes me think of my Ghoul Jewels. I will find the write up for them and post that soon.
Cheers

A dull metal shovel seems inconsequential in its nature. In the hands of any evil character it gleams with evil grim energy and be wielded as a+3 Keen Unholy Ghost Touched Great Axe (Treat as simple weapon). Also it gives the wielder these powers.
• Can shovel loose earth, sand, gravel @ 20'/rd.
• Can shovel packed earth and clay @ 10'/rd
• Can shovel solid rock @ 5'/rd
• Any corpse buried using the shovel will rise again at midnight as an uncontrolled zombie.
• 1/week the wielder of the shovel can bury a corpse and cause a Wight, Wraith, Spectre, Ghoul, Vampire or Ghost to rise from the grave instead of a zombie. (Choice of undead is at DMs descretion)
• An evil cleric holding the shovel gains +4 to Rebuke Undead.
• The wielder is able to control twice as many HD of Undead then normal, whilst holding the shovel. If the wielder loses her grasp on the shovel and undead over their normal maximum become independent.
• Cause Disease (Spell CL15) 3/wk
• Wither (Reverse of Regenerate, Spell CL20) 1/wk
• If held by any non evil character they must make a will save (DC 30) or have their alignment move one step on the good - evil axis towards evil.

Yes even better powers than before. I love it. Though I still stand by my normal shovel bit but I see what you are getting at with such a powerful artefact. Nicely done. Or perhaps not a normal shovel (I no longer stand by it) it just animates those that are buried with it at midnight but does not give the wielder any additional powers until they become fully evil. I think one will be appearing in the world of Orikoss shortly, especially with a new God of the undead about to rise. Hmmmm, love it

I'd go a step further and make it Intelligent, and any nonevil characters have to make will save of some kind to prevent possession (for 1D4 minutes or hours or what have you). To have the party's LG Paladin chop off the head of its NG Cleric with a dirty shovel he was going to use to bury some beloved NPC is...beautiful...
*sniff*
