I was just wondering if theres anyway to recharge a magic item of any sort, from a ring to a wand. Or maybe a weapon with a limited number of charges?
Because it seems a shame to find a cool magic item, few charges left, and have to discard it quite promptly.
Any guidance would be very well recieved!

DMG pg. 214 talks about wands, but states that they cannot be recharged. But consult with your DM, perhaps there ican be a house rule that allows for the recharging of a wand or the like.
Example: A wizard could recharge a wand of fireballs, provided he has the craft rod feat, the spell fireball, and so much Xp to expend on charging it. It would be similar to creating a new one, but only a percentage of the costs is required.

*Sighs*
It was all so much simpler in Neverwinter Nights, the handy hermit wizard sporting a very tasty 'Magic item recharger'
How convenient?
Its a shame the convenience doesn't spill over into tabletop, but oh well the world of D&D just isn't as nice as it used to be...wait I don't think it was ever nice!
Anyway
Thanks Count for the help :)

Something like that could be statted out quite easily.. Such as
Barrok's Handy Recharger
This strange shaped cube as on one of the faces two copper mountings which a wand, rod or ring could easily be mounted in. the cube looks as it it is made from the whitest ivory with an obsidian button on the opposite side to the copper fittings.
When a wand, rod or ring is fitted and the button is pressed the recharger starts to recharge the item. It only works on items that need charges and after a full 10 minutes the item has gained 1d10 charages. The cgarges cannot be in excess of its total charages and if the object is removed before the ten minutes has finished the wand, rod or ring gain nothing.
The Handy Recharger can only be used once a day.

Hassah! What a wonderful contraption, though I do not think many DM's would allow it :]

I love this idea!!! I just made a tribute item!
Barrok's improved Handy Recharger
Barrok places the manikin on the surf board of doom, and stands back. Then he sends a bolt of magic munkey-wrenches spell right at the statue. Instead of exploding in a shattering mess of metal, marble, and munkey, the spell is absorbed and the energy sent spiraling through the statue into the board.
This manikin-like device is a freestanding statue of green marble and silver-runed etchings. You place the item on the appropriate section of the manikin. (IE around the waist for a belt, finger for a ring, neck for amulet, etc.) You then "power" the statue by giving it life essance (10 exp per charge) or draining your own magical energies in the form of spells, spell slots, power points, etc into the statue. As this is an inefective way to charge magical items. There is a severe loss of power, the spell levels put in to the statue have to total twice the level of the spell/ability used by the charge. So a wand of magic missles (lvl one spell) needs two spell levels (two level one spells or one level two spell) to add one charge to the level one magic missle wand. Simply double the cost of the power points for a psionic item. As the item charges the marble will glow and the silver etched runes will dance around the statues surface. The statue will automatically take the appropriate shape to fit the item. (dwarf for dwarven mail, dragon for magical dragon scales, etc)
CL 20: Strong Transmutation. Prerequisites. Craft Wondrous Item, Wish, Polymorph Other. Market Price: Never sold. Cost to create: 100,000gp 2500xp, And the use of a wish spell.

There is a level 9 sor/wiz spell I think its in the complete mage called soul trap. As a DM what I did was make an minor version of this spell that allow the caster to trap the soul into a specially made crystal for the purpose of recharging magical items such as wands or rings, but could also give an all ready enchanted weapon an extra one time power burst. I also did this cause where they were, there were very few permently enchanted weapons and most had to be recharged after so many uses. I took the Idea from Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I used it as a lvl 4 spell and the creature CR was used to determine how full the crystal got. Each crystal could only hold 100 points. Check with your DM and see if he will allow something like this. The caster in my party actually found it to be rather usefull despite the fact that he had to use a spell slot to use it, or carry around some extra scrolls.
