'Entangle' on the nest of Goblins.

CountFalchiezVander

Challrain:

The spell goes off without a hitch, and you see two goblins drop their bows, becoming entwined in the trees and branches contort and twist with life. The other two manage to get their bows and bodies out of the way, still prepared to deliver an hail of arrows from above. They screech in anger as they realize they have been discovered.

Lucian aims his bow at one of the goblins who was not entangled and fires.

The arrow aims true and hits true, striking the goblin directly in the chest. His bow drops as he sputters and clutches at his chest, falling to the ground twitching. His eyes rollback as his body becomes limp.

The rock hits the free goblin square in the stomach, sending an umph from him, though he holds his bow steady. The two entangled goblins wrestle around, with one managing to break free and draw a dagger. The goblin that was struck takes aim and fires at Lucian, and discovers his balance is off as his body falls backwards into the brush not more than 4 feet away from the group. A yelp of pain and some scrambling shows his location, though he does not run. The one who broke free leaps from the trees towards the ranger, eyes wide with rage.

The little goblin lands to the left of Lucian, his blade nicking his shoulder on the way down. He tumbles a few feet away onto his feet, dagger in hand, spouting words in goblin.

Loktar uses this opportunity to act, as before this the goblins were out of axe range, and he's a bit of a poor shot. He growls and takes two steps forwards, swinging his axe overhanded at the goblin who nicked Lucian.

Attacking with power attack... if it's bright sunlight, he gets another -1 to attack.

Seeing Loktar move, Challrain pulls his shield and move forward to where the goblin fell, he wants to see him not attack him, follow the Goblin if it runs and if the goblin moves to attack Challrain, Challrain will act defensivily. Shouting "Who speaks Goblin?" Challrain

CountFalchiezVander

Loktar:

The bright noon day sun does impede you slightly, but you still have no trouble connecting with the goblin's torso, sending the upper half of the goblin a few feet away from the lower half. As the blood spatters your armor and axe, you notice that there is still one in the trees entangled. The other is somewhere in the bushes... or has run.

shawnrc
26th December 2007, 04:58 PM
"I do not speak any goblin at all Challrain." I say as I am pulling my spear out and running toward the bushes where the goblin fell with Sax in tow. Perhaps we will be able to get one alive....

CountFalchiezVander
27th December 2007, 03:22 PM
Xen:

You move up to the bushes, and can search around for him, taking up the rest of your round if you'd like. A search check required.

Challrain:

You also move towards the fallen goblin, and may make a separate search check or aid Xen.

Since I know of no one coming to help me, I suspect the right
thing is seperate rolls, even though Xen's is better."
If the brush is thick and really difficult to see through, Challrain
will more than likely get closer than he watns to find the goblin.

Moving upto the bushes, I notice Challrain checking out an area that he must have thought he seen the goblin fall so I move away from him and check where I know it fell. I send in Sax to fish it out also if I can not find it.

CountFalchiezVander

Xen and Challrain:

You both notice the twisted body of the goblin. His leg is broken, the bone in his shin jutting an inch from his skin. He breathes slowly, the blood seeping onto the forest floor. His eyes are closed and if you made any noise during your search, he didn't do anything to escape. He looks to be unconscious.

"There is the one the trees have up there and this one. Two captives are better than one. Right?"

Cast a 'cure minor wounds' on the Goblin. +1 hp and I suspect helps with bleeding.

It will be obvious what I plan to do and give Xen time to stop me if he wants.

Empanada comes over and sniffs the goblin at a fair distance, looking up into the trees at the one trapped.

"Grill them for information if you want, but I don't speak goblin so I wouldn't know what they are saying. Loktar do you speak goblin?"

CountFalchiezVander
27th December 2007, 08:06 PM
Challrain:

The spell envelopes the goblin and stops the bleeding, but doesn't do anything for the protruding bone fragment. it opens his eyes slowly, barely lifting his head. He seems dazed.

DM Note: As per Bob's instructions' in a different thread, I will be running him until he returns from his holidays.

Loktar delays his action until he can see clearly what the trapped goblin is going to do.

The goblin struggles within the confines of the greenery, and still remains trapped in the grip of mother nature.

Pull away his weapons and check him for others while Xen stands guard with a
spear to his (goblin's) throat.

"This ones all right, for now, we got him."

Challrain

shawnrc
29th December 2007, 05:39 PM
I thoroughly search the goblins body for weapons while saying to Challrain "See if you are able to get that one down from the trees, make sure you bind his arms first though." I bind this ones arms behind its back and while I am doing it I say in undercommon, 'do not fight us we have you now, you may be of more use to us alive than dead, we are not your enemy.... Why did you attack us?' I look around to see if anyone heard me talking... while finishing the ties of his restraints.

CountFalchiezVander
30th December 2007, 02:59 AM
Xen:

A search of the body reveals nothing but a small pouch containing 10 gold pieces. The bow is broken beside his body and there is a quiver containing 4 arrows, the rest must have spilled out during the fall. You speak to him, but he does not respond. He begins to babble in a strange language, unless you know goblinoid.

eric

Look up and check on the other Goblin.

CountFalchiezVander

Seeing that Xen has the one restrained I will go to the base of the tree the last one is in and look around the base for a ladder or rope. Climb it.

"Loktar are you able to speak to these creatures? Find out what this one is saying."

OOC: if he does know what they are saying then I am oging to tell Loktar to say what I told the thing before.

Lucian notches an arrow in his bow and readies to fire if one of the Goblins breaks free from his bindings.

CountFalchiezVander
31st December 2007, 12:03 AM
Xen:

You look over to Loktar, who shrugs his shoulders, and runs over to the tree, attempting to climb it. He manages to scale the tree with some difficulty, and stands ready to finish the final goblin, who still struggles within the tangle of branches and vines.

Is Loktar behind me? Or with me?

"Be careful Loktar, the Trees will try and grab you!"

CountFalchiezVander
31st December 2007, 12:13 AM
OOC: Loktar was behind you, then climbed the tree, and made his saves and checks to avoid entanglement.

"Not sure what you all would like to do with this goblin but I am sure someone back in the village might know what he is saying. Until then I am sure we can use him as a shield. He seems not to understand anything I am trying to tell him and no one else speaks goblin so we should gag him so as he will not sound the alarm for others." After saying that I tear off a good portion of his clothing and make a couple of strips. One for his eyes and the other bigger piece, I wrap around his mouth after sticking some of the cloth inside his mouth. I pocket the gold that I found and look on the ground for anything else that may have dropped out on his way down.

CountFalchiezVander
31st December 2007, 02:31 AM
Xen:

You find nothing else of interest, but a few more arrows to fit in the quiver, which now contains seven. The bow is broken in half, and is not worth repairing.

shawnrc
31st December 2007, 03:52 AM
I shoulder the quiver with the 7 arrows and move with the goblin to the others that are laying dead on the gorund and begin going over their bodies looking for anything of note, or anything useful. "Loktar, use the vines of the tree to tie that one up here and then get him down here, perhaps it can understand something we can say....."

eric
31st December 2007, 05:36 AM
Since Loktar is busy with the entangled Goblin, Challrain will go down and look for thier camp.

CountFalchiezVander
31st December 2007, 02:25 PM
Xen:

Your search of the other two goblins reveals a masterwork short bow, another full quiver of arrows, and a small container that is full of a strange, bright white liquid.

Challrain:

You find their camp easy enough, just a few minutes walk from the ambush. It contains several weeks worth of rations in good order. weapon sharpening equipment, some blankets and a tinder box for campfires. There only seem to be tracks leading to the ambush site and back to the camp again.

shawnrc
31st December 2007, 04:35 PM
Watching Challrain walk off in search of something, I spot a small container and quickly toss that inside a pouch. "Get that thing down here Loktar, we need to be on our way here. It will be dark again soon and that does not favor all of us, though I do not mind as well as you Lucian." Waiting for Loktar to come down and Challrain to come back before we move out again.

eric
31st December 2007, 08:12 PM
Challrain comes back:
"I found their camp, there are some nasty dried meats, and these..."
Drops sharpening equipment and tinder box. "I think they are worth taking. I'll carry them."

shawnrc
1st January 2008, 12:38 AM
"If the nasty meat will not be ate by anyone I will take it for Sax here, he don't mind." Looking down to Sax, "do you boy?'

CountFalchiezVander
1st January 2008, 01:47 PM
Xen:

Your companion does not mind the meaty rations, in fact, he seems quite insistent upon having them.

DM Note: Loktar delays his action until Lucian acts, then he will jump upon the goblin and toss him down to the ground.

Regnier_Leinhart
1st January 2008, 07:56 PM
Lucian keeps arrow notched and ready to fire. "Well it seems that we have one wrapped and ready. "

Getting the rations from Challrain I tuck them into my pack. "Not now Sax, we will have food soon and then you can have some."

Loktar looks out from his tree and tries to figure out the best way to bring down the goblin.

CountFalchiezVander
2nd January 2008, 02:05 PM
As Loktar looks down from the tree, he notices that the goblin has managed to free himself from his entanglement and is now trying to climb down the tree. As you are about to act, you hear the snap of a branch and the howl as a goblin falls with a sickening wet thwack on top of a fairly jagged rock. You now have one captive... and the battle is ended....

colonialbob
2nd January 2008, 04:28 PM
Loktar looks down at the goblin and grins slightly. "Good work... somebody want to tie him up?" He looks at his tree for a moment, then crouches and jumps down to the ground.

shawnrc

I belive that the one that fell is dead, and we already have the other all tied up. I have made a post in the adventure already.
