It is a misty morning in the town of Dennish, quiet except for the smith's hammer and the children playing. There is calm in the air, a refreshing chill of the coming spring and another growing season. A gnome dressed in rather jovial attire sits at the entrance of the town, singing a song to the glories of the morning, and what the morning always brings....adventure.
He appears to be waiting for someone, or rather, several someones, as he is shuffling small envelopes in his hands.

Noticing the faint light coming into the cave I stretch my arms and legs to get the kinks out. I stand up looking over to find Sax still silently sleeping. I move quietly to the lip of the cave and look out over the edge of a 50' cliff face. Stretching my wings out proudly, thinking back to myself of the day I left my clan. The looks I got after killing Tholock for his destruction of the garden was the last thing embedded in my head of “family“. Now looking out over the town of Dennish I am growing to love the place.
The rain coming down lightly on my wings as I spread them to catch the gentlest of a breeze feels glorious. Just then I hear a faint singing coming from the edge of the city just below. Strange thing that is, looks a little out of place, think I will investigate. Just before jumping off the cliff I give a whistle to Sax to rouse him so that he can meet me down at the bottom. Jumping into the air a breeze catching my wings I glide down the cliff face to the bottom. As I descend I see Sax jumping from one rocky outcropping to another as he bounds down the edge of the cliff. Landing lightly I jump up on Sax and ride him toward the singing…….

You find the morning air crisp, refreshing, and the road you travel upon, while worn, has few patrons. You notice the occasional dwarf or gnome with a cart of goods, but nothing out of the ordinary. Soon you arrive at the town gates, where the source of the singing is a gnome. He tilts his head when he sees you, a curious look on his face. He begins to mumble something to himself and walks over to you, bobbing his head and whistling a little tune, though it is not as nice as his singing, you do feel at ease with this little fellow.

Travelling along in the crisp morning whether, though quite unusual for one of my kind, has been a familiar site for others of the town of Dennish. As I ride past the Dwarf, I think I should really get to know his name as I am sure I can help him out with finding some better size mushrooms than he has there in his cart. I wave my hand as I pass, and then Sax comes to a screeching halt, turning back to the cart nose sniffing the air. "Must be time for breakfast!" I say to Sax. With that I get off and dig in a pouch of mine for a bit of mushrooms that I had found deep in my cave last night. Nibbling them up eagerly, I pet Sax behind the ear and say some calm things to him. What a great companion he has been to me, always there for me incase I get myself into something I can't handle alone. I am going to have to teach him a few more tricks.... Once done I move back around and hop back up on top of him and we move off again toward the village, and the particular singing. As I get closer I can see that it is a gnome. I look at what he is wearing and think to myself seems familiar to me I wonder who this is. As he approaches me I halt Sax and climb down and present my hand as a show of friendship.

The Gnome smiles and waves a greeting.
"Hail there traveler, Welcome to Dennish. If this be your first visit, enjoy the town's rustic comforts, and if ye have been here before, remember to stop by the Sun's Down Inn and Tavern for their dinner and supper specials. My name is Narson, Narson Flimmellip."
He looks you up and down, then smiles as he spots Sax.
"Ah, I have something for you."
He hands you a manila envelope, sealed with a wax and a signet of the town of Dennish.
"Please don't open that until later this evening, when your presence is requested at Hero's Landing, the adventurer's guild just off the town center."
Narson points to a rather rustic looking two story building, very square and practical in design, with years of weather wear telling it's age.
"I must wait for a few others to arrive, so feel free to shop around, have a pint, or talk to the locals. Dennish prides itself on open minds and welcome arms!"
With that he back flips to the spot he was and begins singing again.

"Hail and well met Narson, I have not seen you here in town before. I am Xen and this is Sax, I am pretty familiar with Dennish as I have been here for two full moon cycles." I look him over noticing his attire, thinking to myself that he belongs inside a tavern.
"What's this?" as I take the manila envelope from him I see the wax seal with the town signet.
"I know the Hero's landing pretty well, matter of fact it was the first place that I came to when I came upon the city." I watch as he points out the rustic building, thinking to myself of the many times I was there and found things out about the city and the ways of the people.
"Whom are you waiting for? Perhaps I can tell you where the may be. Not much happens around the outskirts of the city without me knowing about it!" After listening to him, I watch him do some back flips back to the spot he was at before he came over to me. He begins singing the same tune that I heard before.
With that I look to Sax with a reassuring smile and begin moving into the city through the gates toward the many shops in the center of town.

You notice the smell of fresh baking bread as you come to the center of the town, the fountain with the statue of Dennish's founder posed upon it. You hear the early morning prayers of several small shrines dedicated to several deities, and the opening of doors as the merchants once again try to sell their wares.

As you approach the gates to the town, you can see a small figure singing and sort of dancing about in a circle. as you move closer, you can tell this gnome has had some experience with songs and dance, and though it is early, it seems to inspire the other passer-bys. The serinity of the morning calm is disrupted by the sound of a door being flung open to a old, nameless tavern and inn on a lonely stretch of back road. The sound of the door was quickly followed by a loud thud as a short, stocky, dwarf is thrown from the porch onto the dusty road by two shadowy figures. "And never come back you worthless, stinking rogue," yells one of the figures on the porch as the dwarf stands up, dusting off his cloths. Another thud is heard and a cloud of dust rises beside him when his pack is thrown from the porch as well.
"Just one more second and that lock would have been open," Magasark thinks to himself as he begins to wonder down the road, "that ring the owner of the tavern was wearing would pay for my meals for a month...if I only had one more second I would have been in the room and I would have never been spotted."
Magasark shrugs it off as he continues down the road as he has unfortunatly faced this same situation several times since he was cast out from his home village. Although he was able to gather a decent collection of arms and armor from his "source seeking travels," his short sword, dagger, crossbow, and leather armor reminded him that he was not a completely worthless "aquirer of goods and material."
"Maybe I should seek some more "normal" employment for a while and just lay low," Magasark ponders to himself.
He continues walking down the twisting road as it meanders through the rocky terrain. Around mid-day he approaches a fork in the road. A sign pointing to the left fork states "Dennish 2miles." "Dennish, huh. That sounds like a good place to lay low for a bit...I guess Dennish will be my new home for a while," Magasark thinks to himself.
Not too long later the dwarf is approaching a singing gnome at the gates to the city holding what appeared to be some sealed envelopes in his hand..."Maybe I can find about this town from that fellow," Magasark thinks. "He seems nice enough," the dwarf mutters to himself as he begins to approach the gnome.

Lucian awakes from his slumber just in time to see the sun rise above the horizon. No matter how many times I see it it never gets old he thinks to himself. He then packs his things and gets ready to move on. He throws his pack over his shoulder and begins walking. Dennish should not be far from here. I'll stay there tonight he thinks as he walks. As Dennish comes into sight he notices the sound of joyous singing on the air. He approaches the town and sees that the source of the singing is a Gnome. Once Lucian reaches the entrance to Dennish he notices that the Gnome is holding envelopes and seems someone. "Well good morning your singing very refreshing this fine and glorious morning." he says to the Gnome.

The gnome smiles at the greeting, and waves a friendly hand in the air.
"Well met this morning my Elven friend, and thank you for the fine compliment. Welcome to Dennish, a glorious place where one can freely enjoy life."

Seeing that the gnome's attention has been turned to the elf, I wonder into the town to get the lay of the land and to see if there is any place that looks promising to "aquire some new goods."
"Perhaps the inn Narson spoke of would be a good place to start," I think to myself, "it has been many nights since I have slept in a bed and if this letter is some sort of comissioned work with the adventurers guild, it may be many more nights until I see a bed again..."

Smelling the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread I head in that direction. Guess I should restock some of my food, there seems to be something of note if I am needed at Hero's landing.
After grabbing a loaf of fresh sweet bread I head over to Sun down's inn to enjoy my meal and see what information I can gain inside from the patrons....
Once inside I move to the area in which I normally sit, the owner knows that Sax absolutely loves the leftovers that normally go in the trash and has them waiting in a decent size bowl in the corner near my seat. Looking over to him I give a toothy grin and a tip of my head in appreciation. Sax heads over to the corner and gorges himself on the waste. With my back to the wall I am able tosee and hear pretty much everything that is going on within the inn. I wave over Juni one of the waitresses whom is a halfling and ask for some sweet root to drink and some fresh fruit.

"Been awhile, how is the forest these days?"
She places a nice early luncheon meal of fruit and some pastries in front of him, then heads to bring him his drink.
As you sit and listen to the early morning conversations, they seemed filled with the joy of simplicity. The weather, the harvest.
One thing you do note of interest is that there is a small group of dwarves, miners from the look of it, definitely not from this region at all, as can be indicated by their clothing and accents. They seem to be talking about a rather large project to the south, and every now and then the word "orc" crops up, but with no more disdain than usual.

Anyways things are going spectacular with the help of Sax I have cleared out a lot of the rubble and bad things." With that said Juni looks to be getting busier so I let her go about her business.

A few miles from Dennish, a hero awakens on the dew covered banks of a small lake. He makes a quick campfire, and places the last of the smoked fish on the edge to warm through. Throwing off the blanket and standing to glimpse the sun rays peeking over the hilltops, he sprints and dives into the fresh waters, sending a comfortable chill across his body. After dipping into the depths of the lake he moves onto the bank with the fresh water glistening off his skin, drying his short hair with a quick shake of the head he grabs his clothes and packs up his bedroll.
I sit down with my backpack and chow down on the fish and take a lengthy drink of the fresh lakewater. Its been a long, lonely road since I set off from the monastery but the friendly faces and kind words of my kin have kept me going as I journey to find my destiny in this world. I douse the fire and my pack rests comfortably on my back, then with a firm grip on my walking stick I set on my way to Dennish with a silent thankyou to the forest behind me. Today the fresh rain and warm sun have me in a very positive mood and as I near the Gates of Dennish, the sweet sounding tunes of an unmistakeable gnome lighten my mood even further.
As I pass through into the town, I wander down the street at a leisurely pace somewhat drawn towards the singing, the sweet smells from the bakery and the soft laughter of children make me smile. Although it seems I am a one man audience for this gnome, I enjoy his sweet voice as it rings of a new day of adventure and oppourtunity. I give him a warm smile as he looks my way...

Drinking the last of his tea, he tosses the used leaves in the bushes to
his left, Empanada, not impressed knew that tea leaves were not that
edible, she was more interested in other things.
"No you can't have anymore of the young goat, we went through enough
trouble killing it and trying to tell the herder that it suffered from a
disease of the spirit and was destined to die anyway. It will last
a week or so like this."
Challrain has smoked the cut meat and had made a hearty soup
base from the bones that he stored in his tribal jug.
Going to the stream he washes the cup and rubs his hands in
the water and then in his hair, then rubs his face, cleaning the
night spirits footprints off his face. Empanada was looking at the
fish off the bank a ways off.
"No, maybe tommorow we can get some fish, there are mushrooms
and I bet there are alot of grubs in the area Empanada."
Picking up his bag and strapping his shield to his back, using the
spear as a walking stick, adjusts the belt and makes sure his
poinard is hanging just right at belt line below his navel, point down.
"Yes we are going, there is a trail this way."
Heading down the trail Challrain comes to a hardscrabble road wider
than 2 horses.
Seeing that Empanada is worried.
"Yes I smell the waste also, that way" Pointing. "What is it?"
Not gettin a response and aiming left he starts to hear singing in a pattern he has
never heard, which starts him to sing one of his tribal songs.
The songs crashing against each other as he arrives at the gate.
His song stops as he smells the smoke, waste and sweat all mixed with
animals and ale, is that ale? Looking at the 2 story buildings.
Then he realized that the Gnome was trying to get his attention.

"Well, I know there was a Paladin to Corellon a few blocks from here, who help feed the hungry and protects the orphans. Enric the Blessed he is, and a finer fellow you won't find anywhere this side of Raythene. You'd best find him for some prayer and spiritual refreshment."

"It seems that the adventurer's guild, of whose leader I've never seen, nor has anyone in the town, takes their commissions, and orders from the mayor here, a Gnome by the name of Enwick Topplebottom. A great fellow, good patron here and a fine leader, though not much for the more active side of life, not even a scar on his forehead from falling off a wagon as a child. But he keeps many of the adventurers employed, and also has something for them to do, so no one complains. Though why there is a gathering such as this I will never understand, let alone know...."
He waves his hand around, and if you follow his hand, you notice there are many hardened warriors here, as well as a few clerics, a bard or tow, some that look like the arcane type, and a few rather shifty looking individuals.
"As for a room, not a problem, since we are flooded with people from around the continent, I am mostly full, but I can let you in on the second floor for 1 gold piece, includes dawn wake up call, supper tonight and breakfast tomorrow, and a complimentary pint at the bar." He smiles with the generous offer.

You lean slightly, as if over your drink, and listen intently. Though there is other noises going on, you manage to make out that what the dwarves are speaking about is a strange monument discovered while digging up a small forest to make room for their citadel. While no one knows what this monument is, it is indeed strange and not even the ancient shamans of the orcs have figured it out. They only know it is old, most likely as old as the first settlers of Althalous.
They continue about this for some time, but that is all you can divine that seems rather important.

I also know that the mayor employs adventurer's as guards when he travels out of town on business of some sorts. But recently it has been quiet around here. And if something is up, the guild members aren't speaking of it."
The barkeep laughs when you mention Narson's name.
"Ah yes, a young bard full of dreams and a love of this town only matched by the mayor. In fact, I'd say those two are related somewhere along the line, same eyes... Anyways, he is always practicing his vocals, and I must admit he is getting better. Not too shabby with crossbow either. Well, all you gather is what they have been told by a few other dwarves who were ensuring the structural integrity of the citadel's foundations.
"We were there naught 2 days before a scout arrived to the chieftain, who was discussing additional support be placed in the ramparts. But anyways, He said the the excavating crew had found a strange monument just a hour's walk from the citadel. We were asked to study its design and come up with a reason and an origin, for an extra fee of course. But as soon as we saw it, we knew that this was not the work of anyone recently. It's design was almost early gnome, at least 1200 years ago from the weathering on it. As to its purpose, it looked merely like a monument. Some ancient carvings, but no one there could understand them. Now it is guarded while the chieftain decides on what to do with it. Personally, it is a relic of the past, but since it serves no practical purpose, move it and build over it."

Narson winks to you.
"don't fret, the paper will not harm thee, I wouldn't allow it. You will see what it entails this evening."
the gnome smiles and leads you to the Sun's Down Inn, where a fiddle and drum can be heard inside, the smell of meat even more poignant. As you enter the gnome nods to the dwarven barkeep, who seems to chatting, or least finishing a little chat with another dwarf. There is an elf at a table listening, as well as a kobold.
"this is where I come to rest my heels and hum a merry tune. As for the ale, I am not sure what they use, but there is also a hint of honey and you always wake up refreshed. "

Your senses tell you that while there is some very random forces at work here, there is not a spot of evil. As you wander the town, you come across a small wooden structure, finished pine and maple. There is a symbol of Corellon etched into the closed doors. As you approach, you can hear hymns to the Elven God sung in a soft voice, though very raspy and masculine in nature.

Just after I get my words out of my mouth to the ranger, I notice walking in through the front door, the gnome accompanying a halfling. Something about the halfling is very familiar to me, and when I notice closer trailing behind the him is a skunk. Stranger things I have seen for sure, but assuredly this halfling is of the same mindset as me. I wonder where he is from, must be from a land far away by the look of his attire. I say in druidic "Hail fellow protector of the land, come have a seat with me so that we may chat about the earth."

The gnome looks you over and grins.
"Hail and welcome to Dennish! I have been expecting you..."
He handsprings over to you and hands to you a manila envelope.
"You are to open that this evening at Hero's Landing, the adventurer's Guild. For now please feel free to shop around, relax at the Sun's Down Inn and Tavern, or simply enjoy the scenery and people Dennish is famous for!"
With that he spins around and tumbles towards some children, making them laugh and applaud before he wanders out of site.

With a quick feel of the envelope I slip it into my pocket and chuckle to myself as the gnome bounds about gleefully. I have always relished the thought of adventure, the explorer in me was always tough for the monastry to contain, ever since I was a child i was always striving to live a free life of fun and excitement.
The sun's down tavern...my throat's dry and I am quite famished after a hard mornings walk, I'll see what the townspeople are like and if there are any other like minded fellows around in Dennish.
I head over to the Inn and order a room for the night, handing the man the coin needed. Then I head over to the tavern, ordering some water and fresh baked bread, I take a seat in the corner and relax. Taking in what conversations fly about the tavern and gazing round to see what sort of folk are around.

From the simple look around and flex of your ears, you notice that there are many adventurer's gathered in here at this time of the day, many relaxing over a pint and telling stories. A group of dwarves are discussing the finding of a monument of unknown design and age near the building site of the orcish citadel. You also note that a kobold and elf are conversing, and that there is a dwarf sitting across from the bar keep, who occasionally nod to each other. There are two halflings playing a fiddle and drum, chanting a rustic tune many are tapping their feet to.

"Well my interesting friend, it was the guildmaster who asked of me to hand out the envelopes. He said that I would know when to hand them out, and since I began at dawn this morning, I have had an inkling with each person I gave one to. I myself have one..."
The gnome flicks his wrist and out of nowhere appears a manila envelope, the same as the ones he has given out.
"I guess we will all see tonight what will transpire at Hero's Landing.... As for the event in question, it is nothing more than a celebration of the merriment that our town holds dear to its heart, please drink up and enjoy."
With that, the gnome wanders over to the band that is playing, pulling out a little flute and begins to play company to the fiddle and drum, and as the tempo increases, the feet pound harder and the voices get louder. Most of the patrons resume their meals and conversations, and a few pay attention to the entertainment.

Knowing the history from one’s home can give one a sense of pride and belonging and of course hearing the history and legends of this friendly place will give me a better understanding of the citizens here” I do have a few questions though concerning Corellon. How does one know if our Creator wants us to do something for him? You see Sir Enric a very jovial gnome gave me and a few others a sealed letter and he told me to go to Heroes landing latter this evening and open it there. I called upon the gift of discernment when I took it and felt no evil from the gnome just some uneasiness milling around. I want to go there later but I want to make sure it’s not a trap for visitors. Perhaps you can shed some light on this matter later. Oh, look at the children waiting…”</span>

Her mind wanders back to the front of her home in Drannor and she sees herself standing there a child as young as the youngest here waiting eyes straight ahead chest puffed out as her mentor ,Amaunator, comes to inspect her before their lesson began. You begin to perform some very familiar drills involving speed and agility, as well an endurance with the children. Enric smiles to you and nods in approval. After eating a simple meal, Enric lets the children go back to playing, then turns to you.
"The children seem to enjoy your company my Lady, as do I. It is wonderful to see another devoted champion to the Elf Lord in these regions. Many of our people stick to the wilderness, preferring to worship in more.. natural.. surroundings. But they are a good lot, though they have not been in town recently for supplies. Still, they are a capable group."
He bows to you and sighs.
"And now my Lady I must take my leave, for I have some temple duties to attend to. Please feel free to stop by when you desire, and we may speak more. It is good to see a face from outside the town, and such a beautiful face as well."
He turns walks away, humming a prayer to Corellon.
To all players:
The morning and afternoon pass by quickly, taking in new sounds and smells, or talking to familiar faces, and by sundown you make your way towards the adventurer's guild. This building looks like it was made to be moved in an instant, yet could withstand a dragon assault. It's stones are stacked together in a zig zag pattern, which makes finding a weak spot almost impossible. The entrance is a wooden door which is opened at the moment, with the sounds of many voices inside, and the smell of chicken and ale mingling together in the evening air. There is no hint of music, and the voices all sound fairly serious, questions, short answers which lead to more questions. The mention of manila envelopes and the strange gnome who has handing them out.
As you enter, you notice that the inside is far larger than the outward appearance leads you to believe. There are dozens of wooden tables, most look as if they had been strewn together from tree pieces off the trails, the chairs a similar design. There is a roaring fireplace with two tall elves on either side, standing at attention, both holding halberds. The tables hold various small groups of individuals, some all dwarves, some all elves, but mostly a mix of races, as if this was a specific seating arrangement. At the far right of the room is a counter, where a rather strange looking halfling is serving drinks. He sports a beard and is rather thick chested from what you can see. Behind him is a line of various bottles, a few kegs and an iron door. There is a set of stairs just beyond the end of the counter, leading right up into the ceiling. From out of nowhere it seems, Narson appears and smiles to each in turn when they arrive.
"Welcome, welcome to Hero's Landing! They say the true adventure starts here, and the greatest heroes drink only our ale. Please find a seat wherever you can, we are filled to capacity tonight. There is a table I set aside for you who come in now..."
Narson weaves through the crowd and jumps on top of the table to indicate to them where to go. There are eight chairs, each with a small gold coin on them.

He looks around to see if they are any complaints, and finds silence broken by the occasional crackle of the fireplace.
He cracks his knuckles and continues:
"It seems that the town of Dennish has seen its share of strange events in the last few months, and finally the mayor has decided it was time to discover what has transpired around the continent. We have heard reports of a strange monument discovered outside the new citadel being constructed by the orcs to the south. To the north, the City of Faith has come into several strange relics that are unidentifiable by the most knowledgeable scholars. To the east the Port City of Youst has began to lose it dockworkers and even the occasional ship. To the West in the Western Forest, goblins and their ilk have become more hostile and the ranger outpost has not been heard from in some days. Even here in the town of Dennish, there is an uneasiness and and reports from the farmers outside indicate strange magics might be the underlying cause."
He allows a few moments for quiet debate and ideas to float around before resuming.
"That is why you have all been summoned here. The Guild master is an individual of many talents, including finding potential adventurers. You have all been watched and selected for your strengths and courage."
"My compatriot Narson has given each of you an envelope. Inside is a piece of paper with a singular symbol. Those symbols represent the group you will be going with on these ventures to discover what in Althalous is going on!"

Soolee sits next to the Kobold and turns to him extending her hand in friendship and says with a apologetic voice and warm smile, sincerity in her eyes, “ I’m sorry It was rude of me to get just as you were ready to speak Forgive me, kind Sir? I am Soolee and you are……? Just then the unmistakable booming voice of a dwarf penetrates the hall. The Paladin quickly whispers in the Kolbold ear, “Tell me your name later, Friend I hope” Soolee sits up straight chest out as if she were a warrior waiting for orders. Once the dwarf is done speaking she gets her envelope and sets on the table. She waits for the others to open theirs before she does. Even though she has not met the gentlemen sitting her she hopes they all be partnered up because to her they appear to be a fine lot even though some may be gruff around the edges.

While listening to the dwarf mumble on about the goings on in all the places of around the city. The dwarf finally says it is okay to open the envelope we were given. Right away I notice the orc rip into his looking at the symbol on his paper and looking cautiously around the room with a clenched fist. He then turns to me after I had asked his name, Loktar, thinking to myself if I have heard that name before....... "Xen's my name and my friend here is Sax." Catching a glimpse at his symbol I tear into my envelope and see that we have the same symbol. "I see that we have been paired together, I think it was a wise choice to pair us together, then again they may not know any better." Looking over to the other people seated at the table I place mine face up to show the others what I have.
I wonder what adventure we will have, I hope it will be either the monument made by the orcs or the to the West in the Western Forest with the goblins.

Once settled she looks at the dwarf and holds out her hand saying sweetly,” kind Sir thank you for looking out after my friend by checking to see if the coin is cursed. May I have so I can check too?”

Looking at the young paladin, I begrudgingly retrieve the coin from my pocket, only because I am mesmerized by her radiant beauty.
Just as I am placeing the coin in her hand, the dwarf at the podium in the front of the guild hall begins to talk. At the end of the speech, I pick up the envelope and very carefully pop the wax seal open using my dagger, in case I want to refer back to the markings on the seal later. I carefully open the letter and realize that mine matches the orc and kobold's symbol as well. Following the lead of the kobold, I place my symbol face up on the table as well.
I think to myself that I dislike being with a stinking orc but at least the kobold may be bareable to get along with and the orc may be able to bash his way out of any sticky situations that we happen to find ourselves in.

Lucian listens as the dwarf talks of the afflictions that have been plagueing Althalous as of late and when he finishes Lucian opens the envelope. He examines the symbol and looks around to see those that matches his. Well it seems my Kobold and Halfling friends from the bar match as well as that Dwarf's symbol and it seems I'm gonna have to deal with that brutish Orc on this journey. However at least his brutish nature and appearance will be balanced out by that lovely lady. "Well it would seem that Lady Luck not only shines on us, but will accompany us as well on this journey. I am Lucian Dirtharnith" he bows to the lady "and you would be?"

Challrain is still not sure of the sheet of power, seeing other
open thiers and its a sign and not a scroll or other
magic or spirit imbibed item he turns his attention to
it and takes it out of his pack.
Its all nibbled on and scratched and Empanada goes on
looking across the Elf at Xen and Sax like nothing has
happend.
Opening it he sees a truncated wedge.
Lays it out in front of him.

Loktar looks at the symbols arrayed on the table before him and follows suit. Glancing around the table, he notices a few looks of disdain. Of course. A dirtmuncher... great. He folds his arms and holds his silence.

When the Elf introduces himself, Soolee extends her hand in friendship, smiling warmly she says, “Kindred spirit of our People it is an honor to be in the presence of a protector of the land and creatures inhabiting it. I am Soolee Catori, Sir Lucian.” The young Paladin turns to the other Elf and offers her hand in friendship saying, “It is an honor to be in the presence of one of the Elven Lords faithful, Kindred spirit of our People” The young girl stands and looks at each man at the table briefly. Her eyes and smile are so warm that even the coldest of hearts could melt as she speaks with the cofidents of a well disciplined warrior, “Good Gents, I am Soolee Catori. It is a pleasure to be in fine company.” Her voice changes to a heart felt commitment as she continues, “May we be of one heart, one mind, and one breathe as we travel together on the same path in our Journeys in Life.” She extends her hand in friendship staring with the Orc. </span>

Having explored the town earlier today, I was very eager to taste the culture before tonight I ventured into the Suns Dawn Inn, and sat myself in the bar taking in the sounds and sights of many a folk. Before heading over to the Adventurers Guild in the late afternoon, arriving quite some time before the other manilla envelope holders. I am yet to make any new companions which would be nice on this lonely road but eventually I was ushered along into the bar of the guild, finding the 8 seats with a gold piece on each.
I have no care for money, but the coin may come in handy sometime so I slip it into my pouch, so with a cautious gaze at all the other strong adventurers Some strong in the arm, others strong willed I hop onto to my stool and pull my hood so it shadows my face I was never one for being outspoken or the center of attention With a quick hand action, ripping off the top of the envelope as all around the table do so, and with a secretive glance at the foreign sign on the paper, I place both paper and envelope back into my pocket then look up to see who else I would be accompanying on this road of mystery.
I must say that I was eager to finally put all my training into practice for real now, instead of the repetitive drills at the monastery. But I doubt any foe I meet can withstand my blistering speed.

There are sounds of many reunions and clangs of armor as people clap each other on the back, holding up their symbols. Narson, raises an eyebrow and flicks the paper over revealing the same symbol as the other seven.
"What a coincidence I led you all to the same table..." He draws his eyes to the dwarf who spoke, as he walks over to the table with you all.
"Well then, I see Narson has had a little fun with the envelopes......" He glares over to the gnome, who smiles and shrugs.
"You wouldn't want my life, and my tales, to get dull would you?" Narson pipes in.
The dwarf mumbles and shakes his head.
"Very well, this actually works out perfectly. There are eight of you and two missions I want you to embark upon..."
The dwarf takes Soolee, magasark, Tharwin, and Narson to one side.
" You four will be charged with interpreting that strange monument found near the orcish citadel. I would send the ranger, but something tells me he has some bad blood between him and the orcs. Better to have one with him and an army against him. Narson, my rather knowledgeable friend will help with deciphering codes and finding out where it is, what it is doing here, and why it was planted there. Your fee for this will be 2700 gold pieces each, with a bonus commission should you find any... interesting articles along the way.." He coughs then nods to them and turns to the other group.
The dwarf stops in front of Lucian, Challrain, Xen, Loktar.
"You four will be heading to the Western Forest, to find out what happened to the ranger's outpost, and to discover what is behind the goblin incursions. Your reward when you return with the information will be 2700 gold pieces apiece, and there will be a hefty bonus should you bring me the root of the incursions. And by root, I mean head...."
The dwarf walks again to the countertop and slams a gauntleted fist upon it.
"The time is now, we are Raythene's, and maybe Althalous' best hope at discovering what is going on. Host your last drink this evening adventurer's, for at sunrise, you leave, for glory, truth, and destiny!!"
There is a single movement as glasses spike into the air, a large 'hurrah!' echoing from all the adventurers. they converse a few more minutes, then take their leave for final rests before embark on their various quests.
Narson looks over the rest of you, then smiles.
"good luck to us all, though I think I chose well when I settled on all of you."
As he waves good night, you can spot a gold coin flipping through his fingers, so fast it looks like it is glowing, and is that music coming from somewhere? He vanishes into the crowd and you are left to your thoughts before you must embark in the morning.

Putting the letter back the warrior she puts the envelope between her and the belt and then affectionately squeezes Challrain's shoulder. Soolee meanders over to the dwarf and Elf and in cheerful voice she says, “Well gents, looks like the two of and the gnome are stuck with little ole me. I’m staying at an inn not to far from here and I’d like to make a suggestion. Perhaps we can go there and discuss what we in a way of our own supplies and maybe pull our resources together to get what we will need to sustain us. What say you, Noble ones?”

Having already warmed to Narson, the charming little fellow is very knowledgable and Im sure he will be outspoken where I am not. The girl I believe to be called "Soolee" seems all good, and as she is of my elf kin I will give her the benefit of the doubt But I am quite unsure about that sly looking dwarf who kept eyeing up the speaker's coin purse. I think self gain might be more prominent over the good of the earth on our travels.
Although I cannot help but join in with the merriment for a short while, the atmosphere clouds my head and I head out on a short walk outside of dennish to meditate. I sit on the bank of a nearby river letting the cool, fresh water glisten over my toes as the moonlight skims the surface. Slipping off my cloak I slip into the river and just skull against the light current, staring philisophically at the stars. Is this the start my "Great Journey" my mentors always prophisised? I trust their words but I cannot help my scepticism.
After gathering my thoughts I walk briskly back to the sun's dawn and head straight up to my room, ignoring the gatherings of adventurers and after storing my kit, the exitement for tomorrow is subsided by a calm, easy drift into dreams of dragons, treasure and adventure. A smile draws across my face in relish of the coming dawn...

When we find out the groupings for this new adventure, I slip the envelope back into my pack. Suddenly the monk rushes towards the door and is gone into the night. I watch the monk rush out of the guild hall and I turn back to the paladin.
"It seems our friend there was in quite a hurry. Since we are to be working together on this little task, may I introduce myself. My name is Magasark Ungart," I say as I bow to the paladin while holding my beard so that is does not drag on the floor. "I am a master of "aquireing" things we may need along our adventure, as long as there is a sufficient place that we can find to "aquire" those particular items."
"It could benefit us to talk about what needs to be done back at the tavern, over a good meal and a flagon of ale as it may be our last good meal for some time. Gather Narson and I will meet you back at the Suns Down Inn."
I nod to her again and I make my way out of the guild hall and head back to the tavern.

Soolee watches her Elven brother leave and grumbles under her breath, “Humph, That’s an Elf for you.” Her attention is quickly adverted when she hears the dwarf. She looks down at him and smiles, “Nice to meet you Sir. I will gladly meet you and Narsen at the inn. In fact that is the inn I am staying at. I am gong to pay homage to my creator. I won’t be long. Looking forward to getting to know you better. Hopefully my brother will be more amiable in the morrow.” She nods back as the dwarf leaves and then she goes over to Callrain and Xen. Squatting to be eye level with both of them she says sadly with a gentle smile, “Take care out there my friends. I hope our paths meet again” She stands up and goes to the Orc and offers a warrior's hand to him. “I know you will be careful. I hope we meet again. I was looking forward to sparring with you “Last but not least she goes over to Lucian and hugs him tightly. No words are needed. She breaks their embrace and turns on her heels, she heads out the door to pray. If the temple door is unlocked Soolee will enter and pray and leave a silver piece if not she will go to the inn and wait.

Watching the others carefully as they open their envelopes I notice that all of us have the very same envelope. Looks like we didn't really need to be here in the first place, why not just gather us as a group and tell us. So what adventure will we be going on??????
As I am about to leave the old dwarf comes over and begins talking to us all and admonishes Narson for a trick he played with the envelopes. After telling us that we were supposed to be in two groups, I lean in alittle to hear the pairings closely.
Challrain, Lucian, Loktar, and myself.
It will have to do, I guess we are going to see why this rangers outpost fell to the goblins... I will have some questions for this elf!!! There must be something else behind these goblins... we will have to find out.
"Challrain, the numbers is a reward for finding information of what happened. We will get along great just use your talents wisely."
Once the others of the eight head out, the four of us still sitting, I say "well looks like we get to go play with some goblins. Lucian I have a few questions. First off, how come you are here instead of your outpost defending it? Second of all, how many defenders of the outpost were there? Third, how many goblins are in the surrounding area? Lastly, were there any defenders left besides you?" With that I sit back and listen for the answers.

"Too bad you do not drink, for this is the finest ale in all the land I do believe," speaking to the paladin and loudly enough so that the bartender can hear. Lowering my voice, I speak to the paladin once again. "Please eat, we will need our strength for the journey ahead," motioning to the food on the table, "I believe that I have yet to hear your name. Tell me of yourself if we are to be traveling together."

Narson arrives at the tavern, a smile across his face and a lyre in hand. He smiles and sits next to the group, winks and places his feet upon the table. The barkeep looks over and shakes his head, knowing the gnome does as he pleases, and keeps the place in proper spirits.
As the wine and ale flows, and the talking slows a bit, Narson begins to strike notes on the lyre, making it sing a soft tune of times past, heroes and horrors, of light and dark, and his soft voice begins to fill the tavern with the soft somber song of the Gnomish lord Deldren, a tale many gnomes take to heart.
His song silences the rest of the patrons, who all turn to this small fellow at the table, and even a tear or two is shed at the song that both mourns and memorializes this honorable gnome. No one dares speak through the ballad, not even a glass is raised to lips. Even the candles seemed to take a moment to stand still in respect for the fallen hero.
When the song ends, there is a lifting of glasses and the name Deldren is said once, strong and loud, yet dignified, like no matter what race or background these people came from, they all felt a connection to the poets ballad, and the gnome that inspired it.
Several dwarves and a few gnomes come over to the table to shake Narson's hand and drop him several gold coins.

Loktar brusquely acknowledges Soolee's hand, then sits back and drinks his ale quietly. He listens to the conversation, and isn't rude, but he doesn't speak up much. It appears he is content to observe the goings-on without joining in.
After a couple of mugs of ale and a few meat rolls, Loktar excuses himself to his room, making plans to rendezvous the next morning. Again, he is terse but not impolite. He spends a few minutes contemplating the events to come, then beds for the night.

Lucian listen to the way Delvar divides what the team. Oh well isn't this a grand turn of events. An Elf who specializes in the killing of Orcs in now stuck in a party with one. Well at least I'll have Challrain and Xen to converse with on this mission. "Well it seems that Mistress Fate has spilt our paths, I do hope she has also reunited them down the road.", he says to the other group and returns the embrace given to him by Soolee. He watches as the others leaves for the Inn. "It is a shame to see one so beautiful cry.", he says to himself. After that he turns to his own and listens to the questions of Xen. "Well to tell you the truth I was never stationed at that outpost. So I can't answer any of those questions. If that is all then I suggest we all get a good nights sleep. Tomorrow we set out on our mission. So now I bid you all good night." With that said Lucian leaves and heads over to the tavern. He seats himself at a table and orders some ale. He sits there and thinks of the up coming mission. One wonders what could be happening in the Western Forest. That outpost is generally guarded very well.
