The world was never kind to those who were different. Sultana learnt this first hand. Her birth heralded the secret shame of the family, her pale skin, black hair and cold aura demonstrated the rather unnatural lineage she comes from. Her great grandfather was a nobleman by birth, but marked by the taint of the vampires.
And it was these features that led her parents to leave the child at the doorstep of a noted traveler and slave owner. This man, a rather robust and enigmatic fellow, saw the child as just another piece of property to sell and display, until she hit puberty. Her body thin and toned due to the amount of work she did for her “master”, and her pale eyes and raven black hair accented her. And this master knew what it was like to love, to have a daughter, for he had raised this child from before she could crawl, and knew of the world, and thus removed her shackles, and brought her into a new world, the world of the Silver Swingblades.
He taught her everything about the style of battle involving dancing, and taught her how to use her body as a weapon more deadly than any sword or spell (Though he gave her a scimitar and told her to seek out a man when she knew it was time, for he would have a knowledge of a world of dance so beautiful and deadly it would make one weep to watch). Now though she was at first his slave, her love for him was always there. He was her father, and always treated her with some measure of respect. When at last he passed on, she set free all his slaves, paid them with his riches, and set out to find his partners, in order to shut them down. When she began to travel, her heritage made her an outcast, the taint being enough to turn anyone who got to close. She was nothing more than a visual centerpiece, something to watch dance, then watch leave. She was again, alone.
Then one evening in a small town, she was dancing at a tavern for room and board (as well as information) she met a young man who did not shy away from her cold touch. And though they were never intimate, He confessed his desire for her happiness in all ways, and revealed to her the glories of Kord. He was a priest of only a few months, and his enthusiasm intrigued her. Thus Sultana walks the religious road of Kord, but always follows her heart and her creed “All shall be free to choose, else the living dead is all we are.”

Does your character constantly get mocked for being a raisin?
