Abstract of Character: Lucien is a classic "rake" complete with tragic fall from grace, and a bone to pick with an established enemy. In brief, he's an outcast noble - made so because he insulted the ruling class too long. He's a native of Piricalia & has a noble family there, but he, personally, fell out of favor with the Eosaint's that conquored and currently rule his people. He was from a trading house, and was one of the lead negotiators. He insulted a particular Eosaint noble one too many times such that in order for the family to be spared, Lucien was disowned. He was imprisoned and served time as a slave, escaped, and is now heading to Truuk to bide his time while hoping to find either a way to topple the Eosaint regime and free Piricalia, or at least manage to get even with the Eosaint that insulted him, brought hardship to his family, and enslaved him - ultimately leaving him for dead.

Personality-wise, he's pretty much the dashing figure of a rogue with some good martial skills. Almost as good with his mouth as he is with his sword, Lucien's quick to buy you a drink, or run you through - either one with a flare for the dramaitc.

All stored in the pack, which can be dropped at a moments notice. He has about 300 gp left over or so. Essentially it's just to pick up the basics he's had to accumulate. The rest he keeps on hand for when it's needed.

If needed, I'll stat out every detailed thing, but it's really just standard equipment (ie: no 10' poles, no spelunking apparatus, nothing crazy. Just like a length of rope, torch or three, food, small hints of once being a noble, etc, etc). I'm not that into accessorizing, but if it's required, I'll detail everything.

Story will be forthcoming ...

Lucien De'Traides has always been a controvercial figure where ever he goes. The eldest son of a powerful noble family of Piricalia, he has always been steeped in the family business of trade. Being a dashing figure, and good with words, he was a natural for acting as the face of the family. Given their mercantile nature, the family De'Traides was one of the few to survive the change of power on Piricalia relatively unscathed. Unfortunately, new nobles came into play of Eosaint origin, and Lucien's naturally roguish nature managed to get the better of him.

A noble by the name of Arguile Fontaine of Eosaint took up residence within the home city of the De'Traides family. At first, it was a friendly competition and social sparring amongst the nobility - a joke here, or there, but nothing too bad. Arguile, however, was not one to be taking the abuse lightly. Using his influence as the ruling nobility, he began to impede the success of the De'Traides business dealings - nothing "illegal" but all within the rights and laws of the Eosaint regime. The family recognized what was at work, and so did Lucien. Unfortunately, humility was not one of Lucien's strong suits. Rather than apologize to the man respectfully, and publically, he instead decided to humiliate the man - by sleeping with his wife! Needless to say, the insult was unbearable, and Lucien was caught and imprisoned. Using the utmost influence of his own family, Lucien's father, Remington, was able to have Lucien's punishment reduced to exile from the community rather than a public execution. Lucien's mother was always a social sychophant, and so this happened against her urging, and she generally laid the rules down for the family. In this one instance, Remington put Lady De'Traides in her place and stood up for his son.

Exile alone was not enough for Arguile, however, as he wanted vengeance. In addition to being banished from the region forever, he had Lucien enslaved and sent to the mines of The Riff. He was only there for a short while as his father again interceded on his behalf. Between Lucien's natural charm and wit, and his father's well-paid informants and operatives, they managed to purchase Lucien's freedom. At that meeting his father gave him the signet ring of the family, as well as one of his most prized possessions - the sword of Xaran. Xaran was one of the original members of the family and was a great warrior that had come into possession of a unique sword. Xaran was essentially the first one to lend power to the family and set it upon its course to nobility and influence in the region. It was a tearful departure, as both Lucien and his father knew that they would not soon see each other again - not while Arguile was still in power of the city of his fathers, and his fathers fathers, and so on for decades.

Since that time, Lucien has been ecking out a life for himself wherever he can find work and some sort of useful employment for his natural talents. He's a good face, and has a head for business, and is a fighter of some worth - a fact that has kept him alive many a time when his flirtacious nature has gotten him into trouble.

He goes by his first name and generally keeps it at that, and dresses in normal, comfortable traveling clothes, although he can dress up with the best when the need arises. He owns very little and has come to learn to live out of his pack - a life style change, but one that a person with his natural charm and resiliance has managed to adapt to easily.

He is not a large man, but of an average size and build, though his frame naturally athletic and agile. He keeps his hair short, and wears a mustache and goatee. His hair is black and his eyes are green, while his skin of of a slightly tanned hue from exposure to the elements while working at various occupations that put him in the out of doors.

Approved, your wanderings have brought you to the island of Truuk, specifically the port of Averdiik and even more specifically the Seven Keys Inn (http://barroks-tower.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=12487) where you hope to meet a buyer for a certain . . . something.
