Glad to see you all. I'm just poking around at the moment, but this looks like a cool place for a dork like me.

My hobbies include spending way too much time researching obscure rules and trying to statistically analyze my next character. Right now I'm reinventing the wheel with a lot of deep thinking on the artificer class. I don't wanna use the cheese I can find on the COB, but at the same time I have this almost obsessive compulsive desire to compare every set of numbers to find the best path forward.

I did this with a monk a while back, and he turned out alright. Just something I do, so expect some DRY reading on character classes I find interesting.

To each his own. I like my characters to be effective, but I do not require them to be the most effective or perfect built. The character is more important that stats alone.

In any case, I hope you will find your niche here. We still do a lot of playing with numbers and seeking balance in the rule here.

Thanks for the welcome! I can certainly understand a focus on the character rather than the numbers, but once I find myself in the grip of a set of numbers, I just can't let go till I'm sick of it. Usually, I don't even want to touch a character afterwards, but occasionally I'll pick it up and play.

On a side note, I do like to take optimized concepts and then play unoptimized versions of the same. Like, say, a Gnomish artificer with an Int score of 12 and a Wis of 8. Can make for some good times, let me tell ya.

Nice to have you here, I know a few people like to make their characters into Uber characters here. So don't worry about anything you want to write. I used to be one of those sad people who likes weird combinations when playing games but most of them have been done before, so I have graduated just to mainly be playing wizards out of habit. Anyway I am starting to waffle....
