Traumatic Reverberation
Divination, Level 7
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area of Effect: Close / One intelligent humanoid
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude partial, Will partial
Spell Resist?: Yes

Calling back to mind the most physically, mentally and emotionally traumatic memories of its victim's life, this spell echoes and amplifies these thoughts and memories upon the target all at once. The body physically remembers old wounds, and the victim is forced to relive painful emotional events and confront terrifying ghosts from the past. Needless to say, this spell has terrible effects on its victims. The victim rolls TWO saving throws; one Fortitude, one Will. Depending on how much he failed the saving throw DCs by, the victim is host to a number of traumas.

First, a barrage of pain as the body relives old wounds; the victim suffers 1d4 subdual damage per caster level, as well as losing 1 point of STR and DEX for each point under the DC of the Fortitude save he rolled.

Second, the remembrance of mental and emotional wounds inflicts tremendous stress on the brain, forcing it to shut down some functions in order to protect itself. The victim suffers 1 point of Intelligence and Wisdom damage for each point under the DC of the Will save he rolled.

Finally, the combination of so much trauma staggers the victim's basic body functions. Add together the positive and negative differences of the Fort and Will saves results (i.e. if the target passed his Fort save by 2, but failed his Will save by 3, his total would be -1), and compare the result to the following chart to determine the final effect on the target's body:

1 or Greater: No effect
0: Confusion (as per the spell)
-1: Dazed for one round, shaken for 1d4 rounds afterward.
-2: Stunned for 1d6 rounds, shaken for 1d6 hours afterward.
-3: Paralyzed for 2d6 rounds, shaken for 2d6 hours, afterward.
-4 to -7: Rendered unconscious for 1d6 hours (nothing can wake him).
-8 or worse: Rendered comatose for a number of saves equal to the total of the results of the failed saves' combined.

All ability score damage is temporary, restoring itself at the normal rate.
