Reversal
Abjuration, Level 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area of Effect: Personal / You
Duration: 1 round/level or until discharged.
The next spell or spell-like ability that targets you is reflected back on its caster. Spells that hit you without targeting you directly (such as fireball) are not reflected by Reversal, but do not discharge it either.
Certain spells, such as Magic Missile, Scorching Ray or Ray of Enfeeblement can fire multiple bolts/rays. Reversal reflects all bolts/rays fired at you for the round from a single spell (thus if a PC with Reversal cast was hit by three magic missiles from one wizard, and two from another wizard, it would reflect the three missiles from the first wizard, but none of the missiles from the other wizard).
Other spells with line/continuing effects (such as Lightning Bolt) that normally pass through the target stop when they hit the caster affected by Reversal, and return the way they came, sometimes other targets twice (if there was someone between the wizard and the caster of the Lightning bolt, for example).
Mind-affecting spells can be reflected on the caster, but the caster can often dismiss such effects. For example, a reflected Charm Person or Dominate can be ignored by the caster, but spells like Hold Person require the caster to make a save versus his own spell. It is up to the DM to make a judgment call on which reflected spells can be ignored by the caster.
