Priesthood of Vearmon:

This priesthood is a diabolical one dedicated to the undead. They worship Vearmon, the fallen one, god of the Undead. They have but one mission in life and that is to advance their foul gods agenda. They are led by the high priest known as the Ancient one.

The duties of the priesthood are simple. They are to aid any undead that they encounter. This does not extend to mindless undead, but rather to the spirited undead. The aiding of the undead is a precept to their very existence. They live to serve, so that someday if they are favored by the Foul god that they worship, they too may become the living dead.

The priesthood works in direct connection with several of the other priesthoods of evil. They work in close proximity with the priesthoods of Adius (God of Darkness), Sirkka (Goddess of Disease) and Birkill (God of Murder). They are directly opposed by most of the Priesthoods of the gods of good. They are also under an uneasy truce with the priesthood of Sattius (God of Death).

The “Ancient One” as the high priest is known is a Greater Mummy of extreme power. His real and true name is forgotten in antiquity. He leads the priesthood from his hidden catacombs deep within the bowels of the earth. His orders are issued through a dream link that he has to his under priests. This link is a gift from Vearmon itself. The dream link is unfortunately one way only, so that the priests may not communicate back to him. His messengers are the undead known as “Shadows”. They are dispatched to deal with the priests that do not comply, or to allow direct communication through the Shadow realm to the Ancient One.

Below the “Ancient One” are four high ranking priests. They are also undead of extreme power. One of them is a Wight, another a Greater Shadow, another is a Zombie Lord, and finally a Spectre. Each of them has been granted unholy powers by their gods. They are able to communicate with one another as well as the “Ancient One” with but a thought. They are also paragons of their undead species with maximum Hit points as well as class levels. They have been granted the powers of regeneration. And finally they cannot be turned by normal turning attempts.

The Wight is a Warrior/Priest by the name of Antus. He was granted his undead status after he died in the furthering the will of Vearmon and the priesthood. His human form was slain by the adventuring group known as the “Silver Hammers”, a group of paladins and priests dedicated to Larun, God of Light. He is an ambitious sort, and a zealot, more so than the others. He tends to deal with threats through forces rather than thinking things through. He has been granted the power of Disease. Any who are hit by him are said to suffer a fatal disease within minutes.

The Greater Shadow is a Wizard/Priest by the name of Mane. He was gifted his undead status after succumbing to the “Shadowplague”. During his lifetime he was a pain in the side to the priesthoods of Andurus, and Mischalla. He did all that he could to manipulate the priesthoods of the two against one another. He did this in the name and honor of Vearmon. He is a thinker more than most, and prefers to manipulate people rather than combat them outright. He is a master of illusions. He has been granted the power of time. He is said to be able to manipulate time so that he moves as fast as lightning, and that his enemies slow to a crawl.

The Zombie Lord is a Priest by the name of Colee. She was granted her undead status while she still lived. She was a master of the undead and raised legions of the creatures to fight against her enemies. She was one of the chosen of Vearmon from the moment of her birth. Her mother and father were killed by undead as she lay in her crib. She received visions from the Fallen one as far as she can remember. She is one of the most loyal of the priesthood, and looked upon with unrivaled distain by some of the others. She has been granted the power of Famine. Any struck by her are said to become as emaciated as her, weakening and some actually dying from a single stroke of her undead hands.

Finally the Spectre was a Rogue/Priest by the name of Ssem. Ssem was granted his undead powers by complete accident or so it seemed. He was a normal adventurer, albeit a greedy and malicious one. He was struck down by a Spectre in a campaign that he was on. He served the Spectre for a long while all the time waiting for the minute to strike down his master and escape. The day finally came, and he was successful (With the help of a group of adventurers) in killing his master. Vearmon looked down upon him with joy. He loved the ambition of Ssem. He sent another of his undead followers, Mane to seek out the new convert. Mane instructed Ssem in the ways of the priesthood, and Ssem took to them like a fish to water. Ssem is an opportunist, and has genuinely come to love his fallen lord. As the newest addition to the high priesthood, he is looked at with envy by some of the under priests who believe that he has not earned the right. He was gifted with the power of Death. It is said that any who meet his unholy gaze are said to die from the fear of what they see.
