This ring was created by the Wizard Branglor for his liege King Grolt. King Grolt had ordered this ring made as a gift for the commander of the neighboring kingdom of Prantias army. King Grolt had been at peace with the Kingdom of Prantia for many years and a friendship had been made between the king's of the two countries. One day King Grolt found out that his commanding general had switched allegiences and was now the commander general of Prantia. This upset King Grolt and he ordered the ring to be made, he then presented it to the commander as a gift for many years of service and to show there were no hard feelings. King Grolt then attacked the Prantia and due to the fear shown by its commander King Grolts forces overran Prantia and it's land was added to King Grolt's.

This ornate Gold ring, is set with 3 rubies and 2 emeralds (the colors of Grolts Kingdom). The ring appears to be a ring of great value (5500 gp). The true power of this manifests itself every time the wearer meets in battle. The wearer of the ring must make a Wil save DC 17 or become frightened and unable to respond. If they fail the save by more than 5, they will flee in terror for 1 round/# roll is failed by, after they have stopped running they will find a place to hide for the same number of rounds before they can return in the direction they were original heading. If failed by less than 5, they are rooted to their spot and unable to attack, unless they are attacked at which point they can then attack, but all rolls will be at a -2. This ring can only be removed through the casting of remove curse, wish, or limited wish spell. Once removed the ring will teleport away to a random location.

Quite funny this one - I would personally have the DC set so it wasn't on a sliding scale. I can see why you did it but it then stops DMs having to try and calculate another set of numbers if expressed as one set in stone type.

I can see it being a lesser artefact because of its teleportation power but DMs may want to know the distance as if if were global or on the material plane or through out all planes of existance?

I did the sliding scale thing to make it so that a group of 2 orcs would not frighten away the Brave knight as easy or easier than say a Great Red Dragon. As for the teleportation, it is random because that way if a GM has a certain idea they are free to make any where in the D&D world the target of its teleportation.

what if you have 7 monsters with differing HD?

Thank you, had not thought of that, I will modify the Dc a little bit
