These were originally written by my friend Pat Leavenworth for 2nd Ed, but have been extensively revised for 3.5 by me. Enjoy.

Lesser Dragon Claw
Evocation (Draconic, Force)
Level: Sor/ Wiz 1, Dragon 1
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Self and creature/object struck
Duration: 1 rounds + 1 rounds per level or until discharged
Saving Throw: None
Magic Resistance: Yes (object)

The Lesser Dragon Claw spell surrounds one of the caster's hands with an aura of magical force that strikes with the power of a dragon's claw. The effect is faint at low level but it becomes progressively more visible and substantial with the power of the caster with the aura spreading further up the casters arm.
The caster must roll a successful melee attack roll to do damage with the Dragon Claw spell after which the spell dissipates (as it does as the end of its duration if it has not been discharged). The magical force of the Dragon Claw spell easily rends through non-magical armor. Half of the armor bonus (rounded down) provided by non-magical armor is ignored (natural armor is not effected). On a successful strike the Dragon Claw spell does a base of 1D6+1 points of damage with an additional +1 point of damage per level of the caster (to a maximum of 1D6+11 at 10th level) with a critical multiplier of x3.
For the purpose of overcoming damage reduction, the Dragon Claw is the equivalent of a magic slashing weapon.
Lastly the magical aura of the Dragon Claw spell functions as a shield as long as it is active. At 1st to 5th level it protects as a buckler, at 6th to 10th as a small shield, at 11th and above it protects as a large shield. This protection is does not cause any armor check penalty or arcane spell failure.
The material component is either a dragon talisman or tattoo (neither or which are consumed in casting) or a fragment of a claw from a true or false dragon.

Dragon Claw
Evocation (Draconic, Force)
Level: Sor/ Wiz 2, Dragon 2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Self and creature/object struck
Duration: 3 rounds + 2 rounds per level or until discharged
Saving Throw: None
Magic Resistance: Yes (object)

Dragon Claw is a more powerful version of the Lesser Dragon Claw (or Lesser Dragon Claw is a weaker version of it, either way). Dragon Claw is identical with Lesser Dragon Claw except for its longer duration and that it inflicts 1D8+1 points with an additional +1 point of damage per level of the caster (to a maximum of 1D8+16 at 15th level). At 11th and above, the caster can make up to two successful attacks before the spell dissipates.
The material component is either a dragon talisman or tattoo (neither or which are consumed in casting) or a fragment of a claw from a true or false dragon.

Greater Dragon Claw
Evocation (Draconic, Force)
Level: Sor/ Wiz 3, Dragon 3
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Self and creature/object struck
Duration: 5 rounds + 3 rounds per level or until discharged
Saving Throw: None
Magic Resistance: Yes (object)

Greater Dragon Claw is the most powerful of the Dragon Claw spells. It is similar to Dragon Claw except that: It has a greater duration. Greater Dragon Claw has a damage of 1d10+1 plus an additional 1 point of damage for each level of the caster (to a maximum of 1d10+21 at 20th level). And, lastly, that the spell is not discharged until it has delivered one successful blow for every six (6) levels of the caster (1 blow at 5th or 6th level, 2 blows at 7th-12th, 3 blows at 13th to 18th, and 4 blows at 19th and above) or its duration is exceeded.
For the purpose of overcoming damage reduction, the Greater Dragon Claw is the equivalent of a magic slashing weapon and it can. At the choice of its caster, the Greater Dragon Claw share one alignment component (law, chaos, good, evil) with its caster in which case the spell gains the appropriate descriptor.
The material component either a dragon talisman or tattoo (neither or which are consumed in casting) or a fragment of a claw from a true or demi-dragon.

Damn I've always wanted to comment on balancing issues.. but this isn't the time. I like this collection of spells especially how themed they are, Thank KoR

If a material component isn't consumed in the casting, I think you can call it a Focus.

Can this spell be used with spectral hand? If so, then I'd say you'd sacrifice the armor bonus, since the aura would be around the floating hand, not your own.
How would you note that in the component line M/F? But yes, it can use either one.

These spells were designed for a school of wizards who tattooed their spells on their body and claimed draconic blood (neatly predicting 3rd ed sorcerers). Thus the option for a tattoo focus.

Your solution for combining this spectral hand sounds fair. Though you could argue that if the spectral hand was in the same space as the caster it could protect them but . . .
