White Christmas
Conjuration (Cold)
Level: Clr 8, Drd 8, Sor/Wiz 8
Components: V, S, M, F
Casting Time: 10 rounds
Range: Long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)
Target or Effects or Area: 100’ radius +25’ per caster level
Duration: 1 hour per 2 / caster levels
Saving Throw: Yes (Object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (Object)
By means of this spell the caster is able to call the mother of all snowstorms. The storm will originate on a specific object and will expand at a rate of 25’ per minute to the maximum area of effect. The snow is not magical and will not do anything other than bring immense cold and snow to the area. The storm is not actually created, but rather it is summoned from the artic areas of any given world.
While exposed to the snow and wind (Which can reach up to 80 miles per hour) any creature caught will have their movement reduced substantially, and most flying creature will be grounded . Vision will also be reduced to about 5’ when in the storm. Damage will be dictated by the creature’s resistance to cold (The temperature with the wind chill is around -85 degrees below zero) but should be at a minimum (With protective clothing) about 1d8 per round.
The storm will deposit 3 feet of snow per hour that the spell is in effect. At the completion of the spells duration, the wind will die down, and the clouds will dissipate. The snow is permanent however.
Material Component: The material component for this spell is a handful of diamond dust (2000gp worth) which must be sprinkled on the focus.
Arcane Focus: The focus for this spell is whatever the spell is cast upon (Most commonly a Church steeple or other permanent fixture). In order for the structure/object to be used as a focus, the caster must inscribe specific runes on the object. The ink for these runes is made of special herbs and extracts and costs 1000gp per casting.
