Spell Name: Tween’s Grace

School: Enchantment

Level: Sorc/Wiz 4, Clr 3, Brd 3

Components: V, S,

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: Personal

Target or Effects or Area: 20’ radius

Duration: instantaneous

Saving Throw: Will (Negates)

Spell Resistance: Yes

By means of this spell the caster is able to somewhat harness the powers of probability. When the caster is required make a dice roll he may roll twice. However if he opts to do this then the first roll is void and the second roll is permanant regardless if it were better or worse than the first roll. However when the spell is discharged the dice rolls of all creatures within 20’ radius of him are made at -2 for 1d3 rounds unless a will save is made.

The spell effect will last until discharged (I.e. a dice roll is made) or until 1 hour per caster level has passed.

You know what might be an interesting twist (seeing as I don't find Tweens all that graceful :P )?

You roll the first die/dice, then look at the outcome. The player may then choose to take that roll, or reroll. Once they reroll, however, there is no turning back. In addition, any monsters/creatures around may use either their own roll or the one that the player passed up (as long as it's a similar roll). For example, a player casts this spell, then rolls an attack. They roll a 12, which wouldn't be enough to hit the targeted creature. They reroll. A 10! oh no, poor player. Then, the monster attacks and rolls an 8. Oops. However, they decide to use the player's 12, which puts them over the edge and gives them a hit. It's really just a thought to keep the spell level low, feel free to pick and choose from this. (Or not use it at all :D )

I changed the duration of the spell which has decreased the power significantly.

Please let me know what you think.

No he would not.

This spell was actually created to mimic a creature from 2nd edition AD&D known as the "Tween". It would do exactly as this spell does, except additional rolls would be made for EVERY dice roll, and ALL within the radius would suffer dice roll penalties.

I have changed the spell. I hope that this lessens the power of the spell making it more viable for the level.

For further comparison, Unluck, a 4th level spell in Complete Arcane, forces one creature to reroll everything, and take the worse result, for 1 round/caster level, with a Will save and Spell Resistance to avoid it.
