Ability Descriptions:

1) Cast all healing spells as 1 level higher: All spells cast by the PC of the healing sphere or school are cast as if the caster were one level higher than his actual level in regards to range, damage healed, etc…
2) Lay on Hands: This spell is in all ways exactly the same as the paladin special ability
3) Smite Undead: This ability is like the paladins Smite Evil ability, but it only works against undead creatures.
4) Affliction transfer: By means of this benign ability the PC is able to take an affliction, such as a disease or curse from a victim, into themselves. The PC will be affected as if he or she had contracted the affliction normally. The condition will start as a fledgling affliction. (I.e. if the PC took a disease in to his or her body that was in the latter stages in the original victim, it would be in its beginning stages in the casters body.) The victim will regain as he or she normally would, and be totally free of the affliction.

In order for this spell to function both the PC and the intended recipient must make saves.

For a disease, they must both make Fortitude saves equal to the DC of this spell. If either fails the save, the spell is a failure also.

For a curse, they must both make Will saves equal to the DC of this spell. If either fails the save, the spell is a failure as well. For exceptionally strong curses (DMs Option) the DC of the save may be raised to the DC of the original caster of the curse.
5) Cast all healing spells as 2 levels higher: All spells cast by the PC of the healing sphere or school are cast as if the caster were one level higher than his actual level in regards to range, damage healed, etc…
6) Cure Disease: This ability is in all ways the same as the Paladins special ability
7) Divine Health: This ability is in all ways the same as the Paladins special ability
8) Smite Undead: This ability is like the paladins Smite Evil ability, but it only works against undead creatures.
9) Cast all healing spells as 3 levels higher: All spells cast by the PC of the healing sphere or school are cast as if the caster were one level higher than his actual level in regards to range, damage healed, etc…
10) Cast all healing spells of level 1-4 as Maximized spells: All spells of the healing sphere of levels 1-4 cast by the PC are cast as if they were maximized (As per the metamagic feat).

The Children of Mercy are an ancient order dedicated to the forces of good. They are a close brotherhood respected by all for their advanced healing arts. They are a close knit brotherhood dedicated to the healing arts that they have nearly perfected.

The order was originally started by a group of priests dedicated to the worship of Mischalla, goddess of healing. They banded together to try and rid the world of disease and suffering. They were directly opposed by both the priesthoods of Vearmon (God of the Undead) and Sirrka (Goddess of Disease).

The order flourished under the guidance of the Priesthood of Mischalla. Soon the teachings were spread amongst the planes by travelers. They have since spread all throughout the known multiverse.

The Order does not believe in the wanton destruction of intelligent life. They are not allowed to willingly take a life except in self defense, and usually try to use their diplomatic skills as a first option. However they have a strong sense of duty to destroy the abominations known as the undead. Their skills are suited for that purpose, and they use them to the fullest.

If a member of this PrC ever takes another intelligent beings life without cause they will immediately lose all class abilities until such a time that they can atone.
