Rock Eater Trolls are natives of the elemental plane of Earth that sometimes find their way to the Material plane. These Trolls usually build their lairs in caves, and remote salt mines. Rock Eater Trolls are not similar in appearance to normal trolls, being slightly larger at 15 feet tall. Their skin is able to change in coloration to match their lairs or what they happen to be eating. Rock Eater Trolls are peaceful for the most part if allowed to eat the natural raw minerals and not threatened. They are extremely slow and when not eating, they sleep or just speak to no one in particular. Although visitors in this world, they have found a much needed function within the desert society. The Rock Eater Troll is able to grind raw minerals with their gargantuan maws and produce refined minerals within their droppings.

Typically, Rock Eater Trolls are cared for much like pets, and provide the salt merchants with all the product they could need. They are well cared for and guarded to prevent abduction from rival merchants. The Rock Eater Troll has never seemed to mind this arrangment. Rock Eater Trolls are solitary in nature and often talk to themselves, ignoring everything around them while they gorge. Scholars studying this strange but benevolent creature have not discovered their breeding habits, nor have they discovered the secret behind their digestive function. Rock eater trolls do not to appear to age, nor has one ever been known to die of natural causes. One Rock Eater Troll was reported to have answered the question about their mating rituals between mouthfuls of minerals; "We just show up". Many experiments have been tried to see what the Rock Eater Troll can consume besides minerals. The findings show that they can consume just about any material without consequence, though they prefer devourering minerals. Rock Trolls speak their own language and common.

COMBAT
Rock Eater Trolls are not ferocious as normal trolls and but can grab and bite with their emmense jaws. Rock Eater Trolls are considered as giant-type monsters when attacked by those that have an advantage against giant-type monsters.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the Rock Eater Troll must hit an opponent of one size category lees than or smaller with his hand. If it gets a hold, its bite attack automatically hits. In the second round of a hold, the victim may attempt to break free, but if he is unsuccessful the Rock Eater Troll will bite them twice in that round. The Rock Eater Troll will drop its victim if hit by an attack that deals 10 or more hit points of damage.

Regeneration (Ex): Fire and acid deal half damage to a Rock Eater Troll.

Swallow Whole (Ex): If the Rock Eater Troll successfully uses Improved Grab (see above), they may attempt to swallow their foe whole, where they will be processed into minerals (death with no resurrection possible).

Camouflage (Ex): The skin of a Rock Eater Troll can change its coloration to various shades of brown and gray, providing the Rock Eater Troll with a +8 racial bonus to Hide checks in rocky terrain.

Earth Magic Vulnerability (Ex): Rock Eater Trolls are destroyed instantly by a transmute rock to mud or passwall spell if they are in the area of effect, if they fail a Fortitude save (DC 18).
